I'm still trying to figure out why my Verbatim DVD+RW disk works and my Philips DVD+RW disk doesn't. Could it be because I ran them both through DVD Shrink w/deep analysis then Nero 6, but only the movie on the Verbatim actually needed compression? Does running Shrink (or its deep analysis) on movies that are already small enough to fit on DVDR cause problems?

You don't need to do deep analysis on the DVDs that don't need compression. My understanding of shrink is that it compresses to fit the dvd as necessary with the same amount of compression throughout. I asked this same question as to whether I should use decrypter for DVD-5 movies or just stay with shrink and the consensus was stay with shrink. Doing deep analysis is good when the amount of compression might worsen the video(for some people) but it is unnecessary for DVD-5 movies and will add 40 minutes to the process to boot. I have done shrink on many small movies without any problems at all.
