PS3 YDL installation issue

Hi,

I downloaded YDL5 and burnt it to a DVD.

I downloaded otheros.self and otheros.bld

I created a PS3/otheros folder on a memory stick and copied the above two files into it, then plugged it into the PS3

On the XMB I told it to install "Other OS" it searches and finds "otheros.bld" (should it not find otheros.self??)

I then choose other OS as default OS fro XMB and reboot.

The PS3 reboots, but the screen remains blank and nothing happens.

I have to reset the PS3 by holding the power button for 5 seconds to return it to default.

Any ideas anyone? I have searched for other people with this problem, but not found anyone.

A few details...

PS3 F/w 1.6
HDMI connection to Hi Def TV that supports all HD modes.

Once interesting thing is after a few minutes my TV switches off. It does this when it doesnt receive a TV signal for a while, so it seems there is no output on the HDMI??
