Yeah CMC Mag is awful, and the TTHO2 is the same ID as MIJ TDK's, neither one is great. I recommend getting some 4x or 8x Taiyo Yudens or Verbatims. Even if your other backups work, using CMC Mag is putting extra strain on your laser and speeding it towards an early death.

86. Q. Where can I find good deals on legit Taiyo Yuden's and Verbatim's?

Name of Game - Super Mario RPG
Game Region (PAL/NTSC) NTSC
Media Make - Maxell
Media ID
Disc Max Speed 52x
Speed of Burning 52x (but I turned it down to 8x, I dont have the option in Nero for 4x)
PS2 Modification (Swap Magic Version+Tool used /Name of Modchip) - DMS 4 PRO SE
PS2 Version (V1-Vx) - V4
Game acquired (downloaded/original disc/back-up disc) downloaded (its a rom)(SNES Station)
Rebuilded (Yes/No) no
Rebuilding Software no
Burning Software - Nero (but an old version)

The game Im trying to play is Super Mario RPG and its on the SNES station thing. I burnt it to a maxell CD along with many others roms. RPG is one of the two that doesnt work. It has a really bis lag and is impossible to play. Would it help if I burnt only this rom to a CD. Would it help if I burnt only this rom to a DVD? Is there any difference?? Thanks.

Try burning at 12x. It's a good idea to burn CD-ROM games at 1/4 the rated speed of the CD. The other possibility is that it's a compatibility issue or bad rom. Try downloading another version of the ROM, if that doesn't work, try it on a SNES emulator on your PC. If it works fine on your PC, then it's likely a compatibility issue with SNES Station. I personally found a ton of compatibility issues with SNES Station, so I just use my Xbox for emulation purposes. ZSNES and Snex9x are the best SNES emus for PC.

@pingoo What's the Media ID of the discs you're using?

91. Q. What is the Media ID of a DVD and how can I find it?
A.The Media ID of a DVD is the true measure of it's quality. It contains prerecorded info about the disc's manufacturer. The quality of the disc will vary depending on the media code. The media code isn't visible on the disc or the packaging. To check the media ID, Open DVD Decrypter, insert your disc, and check what it says under Media ID or Manufacturer ID. You can also use a program called DVD Identifier which is very useful. You can find it here: http://dvd.identifier.cdfreaks.com/
Compare the Media ID to this link: http://www.digitalfaq.com/media/dvdmedia.htm
Huge List of Media ID's (Thanks to DogBomb): http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/155431

@ makavali3 Swap Magic can't load games bigger than it. TOC=Table of Contents, the size of the disc. SM's TOC=4.37GB's. You need to boot the game with a High TOC orignal game, anything that's Dual Layer will work. So Swap Magic, hit square, High TOC original game, then backup.

Yeah that sounds right. The official site is down, here's a post from Sly 61019
Quote:
So, the steps would be Swap Magic CD > Press eject on ps2 > put in high TOC original DVD game > press X (maybe not needed) > backup. BUT since you have a slimline, i don't know if you can to a TOC refresh.
That's probably correct, Sly is a long time Swap Magic user.

Try using quality 8x Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim media, works great for PS2 backups.

V4 PS2's and later read +R's fine. Try 8x Taiyo Yuden or Verbatim's in either + or - format.

Name of Game - Can't really say... leaked Oct1... you know what I'm talking about. ;)
Game Region (PAL/NTSC)- NTSC
Media Make - NexxTech
Media ID - UME01
Disc Max Speed - 8x
Speed of Burning - 4x
PS2 Modification - Swap Magic 3.6
PS2 Version - v12
Game acquired - Torrent, was confirmed to work for many people on torrent's comments
Rebuilded (Yes/No) - No
Rebuilding Software - N/A
Burning Software - Nero 7.0 / DVD Decrypter

I'm using Swap Magic, it boots up fine. I swap out for the game, press X (also tried pressing square). It goes to a black screen, and I can see and hear the lens & motor searching the disc. The lens is going for a good 3 minutes while still on a black screen. It seems like it's reading something, but the game never really boots up.

Tokijin: I found your posts to be very well described and you exhibit infinite patience. Do you think it's the media I'm using? If the lens is searching the disc rapidly like it's trying to load, is that an indication that it's the media at fault?

My Swap Magic Coder 3.8 disc boots my backup games fine, but when I use it together with my Action Replay Max disc (cheats activated or not), I get a black screen and my backup games don't boot. Any ideas why?

Name of Game - CODER 3.8
Game Region - NTSC
Media Make - Verbatim DVD-R
Media ID - Not sure, sorry
Disc Max Speed - 16x
Speed of Burning - 4x
PS2 Modification - Swap Magic Version 3.6, slide tool pro
PS2 Version - V5/V6 SCPH-30003 R
Game acquired - NTSC ISO
Rebuilded - No
Rebuilding Software - None
Burning Software - Toast Titanium 7.0.2

Hey guys, I've been looking around and can't seem to find an answer to this one: I have swap magic 3.6 and slide tool pro. it works great, but recently I've wanted to use coder or some other method to add cheats to my games. I've read about a lot of methods and none of them seem to work. so I recently downloaded and burned a copy of coder DVD (SMD 3.8) which I can boot using my original 3.6 DVD.

The problem is that even though the coder dvd will boot, it wil not boot any games. Instead it goes back to the browser and brings up the menacing red "please insert a playstaion 2 disk" screen.

I've tried putting in an original high TOC game like Xenosaga thinking it may be an issue with the TOC just not being high enough, but to no avail. the game I'm trying to boot is final fantasy XII (toc 4.3gb). Any help would be greatly appriciated.

P.S. This is the first time I've had something not work using these disks and this setup with the software mentioned, so I highly doubt those have anything to do with it.
