PLEASSSSSEEEEEE help me. I havn't played UMD's on my PSP in over a year. The pushing with a pen technique seems to work. There is a little click when i push it over. However i tried to run a game and it still wouldn't load. I looked inside and i found it moved to the right again. Is there anyway to jam it?

for those who cant get their umd's to read, theres likely nothing mechanically wrong with the drive it probably need cleaned,and/or lubed, theres a shaft like gear that lets the lense assembly move left and right along the diameter of the umd, after a while that gear gets dried out causing the it to skip a tooth"the noise you hear",locate the gear and apply SMALL amount "so dust wont stick to it and gum it up"of petro jelly along its length,if your CAREFUL you can move the lense assembly to evenly lube it

hi guys can you help....
the psp to my knowledge hasnt suffered a drop, I was told that you can tell if casing is damaged by gap at top of the umb slot... but this gap is identical to the other PSP i have which works.
The problem is i insert a UMD and nothign happens it doesnt spin, or even make a noise that its reading!! its as if a disc isnt in there!!!
any ideas?

read all posts in this thread so far. thanks for the info so far
problem: 2 psp's, laser will not move on one but does spin and focus, other one sometimes reads if i hold the door closed just so and wipe laser clean before each use (originally wouldn't move). tried moving lasers with pen, fixed one but the other still won't move on its own. if i open up the psp and move the gear, the laser will move on the track. have used canned air. inspected gears and track but nothing stuck in it. is there a fuse i should be testing?
the door on the 2nd psp is a little warped on one side, but when i hold it almost flush it will work most of the time. any idea how to fix that?

hey, i'm new to this site and my psp just stopped working. i was playing it one day and the next, the umd would just not do anything. when i put a umd in the slot there are absolutley no sounds and no error messages. i tried messing around with the position of the laser but that didn't work (and im pretty sure it has something more to do with the motor anyway cuz i dont hear it spinning). i really dont wanna buy a new one or a new slot cuz im kinda strapped fer cash so if anyone has any idea wats going on, any help would be appreciated (also if anyone has the picture originally posted/talked about by Stuckonit, it would be much appreciated as well). Thanks

moving the laser closer to the center compleaty fixed my psp problems.
keep moving the laser with the back of a ball point pin until you hear a "ca-Ching" like a cash register. I had to do this a couple times to get it to do the Ca-Ching
