Hey guys,
Back once again. Been away with bloody exams!
Not done much on the PSP scene lately so I hope you will be able to answer my questions!
I like the look of playing PS1 games on PSP, and also putting PSP UMD games on my memory stick (buying a 2GB one if this type of thing is possible).
Here are my current details:
PSP System running Firmware version 3.03.
PAL
Please let me know if being on this firmware or being in a PAL region would cause limitations, and if so, are there any workarounds to these.
Cheers

Do I have to use CDRWIN or wateva its called? because I used ta right popstation I think "Popstation GUI" or something like that but it generated keys.bin and eboot.pbp so will this method still work? I don't think it will but I'll try anyway what do u think?

I know this is a much older topic but I have been wanting to convert a majority of my favorite PSX games to the PSP for when I travel.
I used the steps in the initial posting and was able to put it on my PSP but when I try running any of the games it keeps giving me a invalid copyright protection message.
Anyone have any idea to remedy that?

you need to be running custom firmware.

Has anyone converted Abe's Oddysee or Exoddus to eboot. Do you have the borders at the sides of the screen when running it in full screen mode. I think it would be nice if I could get rid of the borders. Anyone know how?

I use CFW... and I currently use 3.90 M33-2 and still sometimes get the error on some of my PSX games.

I'm using the same firwmare but never had that problem. Have you tried using the 1.50 kernel addon and have you set the homebrew folder in recovery mode to the correct mode (1.50 or 3.90) and have the games in the corresponding folder?

Yup... all done... I even use CloneCD and Alcohol120 for my PSX copying. I use the RS GUI PopstationMD for converting them to Eboots as well. Disks play fine in my PS2 and PS3 so scratches aren't a problem and I don't think it's my copying software that's the issue either. *shrugs* No big deal I guess... I got about 50 of them converted at any rate so that should be good enough.

I don't know what it could be then. I burn PS1 games to my computer as BIN files using UltraISO and then use psx2psp to convert them to eboot.

Hi, all!
Bringing an old thread back, I got a couple questions about this too.
I have the 3.80 M33-5 CFW.
1. With multi disk games, like FF7, I have loaded the first EBOOT.PBP file in my memory stick (had to use the popsloader for cf 3.72 to run it properly): to run the other 2 disks, do I put all 3 files in the same PSP/GAME/FF& folder? Is it any relevant how I name the files, like CD1.pbp, CD2.pbp & CD3.pbp?
2. With .cue and .bin game images, is the process the same as if I had a .iso? I just convert to eboot with the popstation and add to the GAME folder in the momery stick, right?
Thnx for any help you can give me with this ^__^

1. ABSOLUTELY NOT! There are two types of multi disc games. Games that let you save at the end of each disc, and games that dont. For FF games, play one disc to the end, then save. Put the next disc on your psp, and load. USE THE SAME GAME ID FOR ALL DISC's OR YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS
2. Yes. Simply pick the .bin file and convert it into an eboot.

Thnx for the quick reply. Ive run into no problems when converting both .bin and .mdf files so far with Zinga's v2.26 Popstation. Im trying the customization options too, you know, loading pictures and background music to the load screen an all. Pretty neat.
As for the multi disk, I started experimenting before I got your reply ^^U. Noticed if I put the 3 eboots in separate folders in the PSP/GAME directory, it runs fine. If they are all in the same PSP/GAME/FF7 directory, it wont load them at all. No real need to have all the Disks ready to go, but just wanted to try it out, lol. Good enough for me. Again, thnx a lot for the help.

i can't get my FF8 to work.....i'm currently running 4.01m33-2 cfw and i have tried many tools such as PsGUI123beta, PopGUI V1.7.2, PSX2PSP 1.4 etc and they all don't work......i ripped my own FF8 disc which is PAL version using Imgburn, i patched it so that it's NTSC, and when i launch the game on my PSP, i can only get up to the loading screen. But when i pressed new game, it just shows a black screen for 2 minutes.....please help me.
And also, i read a few topics about Popstation and Popsloader, do i need those? I don't know anything at all about them, so please explain what they r if i need to install them...
btw when i used those programs, i made sure i selected the proper Game ID, it's really easy coz the guides/topics i read are really noob friendly and the programs r pretty damn easy to use so i'm 100% sure i followed everything correctly......so ya, i dunno wot's wrong, i could get to the loading screen fine and even the credits play fine (credits will play and a FMV scene or w/e it is, along with the background music will play fine and smoothly, if you don't choose any option during the load screen, then the credits will play).

Yeah you need popsloader to load PS1 rips. You should be able to find a download of it if you just google it. Instructions on how to use it are in the readme file for it and its pretty simple from there.

i dunno if u were replying to my question or somebody else's question above, but judging from the fact that ur reply doesn't really apply to anybody's comments/posts other than mine, i guess u weren't reading.
I don't know how simple i've made it sound but i'll do it again.....I have ALREADY got Popsloader "WOOOOOORKING". I can play playstation games FIIINE. I have CWcheat WOOORKING as well, i loaded a PS1 game save i downloaded from Gamefaq using CWcheat, and it works. I was playing Final Fantasy 8 and the game save loaded succesfully, i started with Squall & Quistis at level 100 and everything went perfectly. I played for 5 hours straight and nothing went wrong, i had everything all SORTED AND WORKING.
But then, yesterday morning, the CWcheat stopped working. Popsloader still works, i can still play PS1 games, but i just can't load game saves anymore, it keeps saying data not found, even though i check the memory card utility (by pressing the HOME BUTTON in Popsloader), it shows that the game save is on the memory card, but when i tried to load game, it just keeps saying no data found.
CWcheat menu still works, i.e when i press SELECT for 3 seconds, it still shows up. Everything still works fine, just that the game save doesn't load from IN-GAME.
I re-installed everything twice, but still the same thing happens.

What you need:
-3.02 OE-B and above
-CDRwin
-Zinga's Popstation
Just follow these instructions and you'll be playing ur ps1 games b4 you even know it.
1. Download these 2 applications from here:
CDRwin: http://www.goldenhawk.com/cdrwin.htm
ZiNgA BuRgA's popstation: http://www.psp-hacks.com/forums/viewtopic.php?id=60371 (download the older ver - the one that generate both eboot and key)
2. Put PSX game that ya wanna rip in the computer drive.
3. Run CDRwin, choose to extract disc, choose a title for ur game and press start.
4. Run Zinga's popstation and browse for the bin file that is ripped from the ps1 disc and click "go".
5. After the processing's done, look in your output folder you selected and you should see a EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN file.
6. Place these in ms0:\PSP\GAME\(Game title name folder) folder and you're ready to go. Eg, for MGS game, put in ms0:\PSP\GAME\MGS.
FAQ:
Q: I have 3.02 Oe-a but the game doesn't seem to load.
A: Upgrade it to 3.02 Oe-b and above.
Q: I have the newest Oe but the iso I just created can't work.
A: It may be a bad rip.
Q: Do I need to put other files (bin and cue files?) into the game folder?
A: Nope, you can delete all. Only the EBOOT.PBP and KEYS.BIN file is needed.
Q: Can I put it in GAME150/271 folder instead?
A: It's better to just put it in the game folder.
Q: This message "to use this content u must activate the system" pops up everytime I wanna load a ps1 eboot.
A: If you're at 3.03 oe-b and above, you try reinstalling it and it should work. If you're at other custom fw or 3.03 itself, downgrade back to 1.5 fw and upgrade to 3.03 oe-b and above for it to only work.
Q: Whenever I try to generate a eboot file I didn't get the keys.bin, what is wrong?
A: I think you downloaded zinga's newer version, just download an older version and you're ready to go.
Q: The file I downloaded has a weird format, how am I supposed to make it a readable eboot in psp?
A: First off, google for the file extension and find the programme that is able get the content out. If all cannot be done, just loan the game disc from a game shop or torrent for the eboot version.
Q: Final fantasy 8 hangs on me and some other games won't even start?!
A: FF8 has a tendency to hang during battles or some scene, juz set scene to still and you should be able to play the game through. As for other games, it's either a bad rip, compressed version of it won't work or it isn't supported yet in the popstation.
Q: Where can I get these widely talked about OE custom firmwares?
A: From psp-hacks, qj.net or simply google for it.
Q: Where can I download these ps1 games?
A: Google is your best friend, so are the torrent sites.
Credits to psp-hacks forum.
i would like some help,i just bought a psp its the slim and lite and i would like to play my ps1 games on it,what should i do?

OK. Im no nube but Im a lil nubish to psp. I got a white psp with cf 5.0 m33-3 running. I see everyone talking about other c.f.w. is m33 compatible w this procedure? Im thinking of doing this for my girl cause she likes psx games.... she doesnt really get into complicated gaming. but she's really wants to play some of my old psx games. And by the way the links for popstation are bad in the guide. but the links someone else posted are good maybe you could edit your post. Good guide tho. nice and simple. BEEF815' - A couple of noob questions first. 1. Are you putting the eboot in this directory : X:\PSP\GAME ? If so then try Just the eboot file only . No folder. Just as a check.
2. Have you had success w any other titles? Maybe try another title. FF7 Ive read can be funny. But I havent tried it. Is your firmware working properly? have you backed up a umd successfully ?
3. Where did the eboot and keys bin files come from? If its from torrents there might be a problem w the file. If its from a rip of your own; try using differnt software to rip and convert. Check which version of popstation your using. The newer versions , I dont think it makes keys bin files and they seem to work fine with out them.
Sorry if some of the questions are really noobish but I am just checking , you could be really new to this. or you could have over looked something simple.
