Use wizard mode, after the ripping it will ask you do you want to fix VOB files, etc in the box of ripit4me..... wait...

open fixVTS and find the VOB file click the full dvd button.... after this step continue with the RipitforMe process of clearing errors and blank sectors

You can try to continue with DVD Shrink but I keep getting an error on #07

instead open Nero recode2 and choose main movie only, I used burn on fly method.. either method works

WORKED.... the only way

RIPIT4ME + fixVTS + Nero Recode = PLAYABLE MOVIE
As rbrock said, "Ripit4me worked I got in the way in wizard mode". When using the 1-Click mode you don't get the VOB problem that's been cropping up for some. That means it's easier to just let the software do the job as the guide indicates. I realize a lot of people like to feel they're being more active by using the wizard in the processing, but this is one of those programs that doesn't need the user as much. Since FixVTS is already a part of RipIt4Me, using it again isn't necessary.

Bowler
The RI4M Beta has a skip function. If the analysis shows little protection on a DVD, there's the option to skip to Shrink. If a person is ripping to the HD though, the program still goes through FixVTS unless the user unchecks the Cleanup VOB Settings. The latter I don't suggest, just in case.

BTW, wasn't questioning your know how on the programs. I was suggesting RipIt4Me for future use and didn't want to go into a lesson on FixVTS "how to". With the right software installed, it wouldn't be that much trouble to redo the rip. Plus that would insurre it was a good rip instead of files already causing a problem. There's sometimes method to my madness. I'll agree with you. If there's good files already on the HD and nothing more than compliance processing is needed to complete the job, by all means use FixVTS or VobBlanker. Like you, since RB came along, I don't use Shrink for transcoding as much. But it does the quick analysis check on most of the new movies I do (the compliance check). Interesting combo you have; Recode for speed and in comparison the slow encoder RB/CCE. I understand why though, RB/CCE is hard to beat for video quality, especially on the big movies.

Since you're doing DL, there is no need for Shrink except for its part in RipIt4Me, no need to process with it after the quick analysis. ImgBurn can create it's own ISO. Rip with RipIt4Me, when the Shrink quick analysis is done, close DVD Shrink and open the files in ImgBurn. Select the Build mode and under output select Device (your burner) to burn the output.

ok, so can somebody summarize how exactly to back this DVD up using RipIt4Me? maybe possibly with which software versions etc?

I have the following software and have been unsuccessful:

DVD Shrink 3.2.0.15
FixVTS 1.603
ImgBurn 2.2.0.0
DVDFab 3.0.5.5
AIO Installer 3.0
DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0

Just for the record i have tried ripping the whole DVD, maybe i should have only done the movie?

bbmayo's RI4M guide.

http://webpages.charter.net/bacitup/TheGuides/pacman777guide.pdf

Follow the guide and don't get creative and it works.

Some people do okay burning on the fly. You could try verify, but that takes twice the time. Your gamble. I don't use burn on the fly, though my system is fully capable of it. I like the more sure methods.

I guess if you don't want to allocate the resources to do the job right, you don't mind the problems that come with it. rbrock had a good idea, record the porn. You can hide DVDs more easily than the PC. That way when big brother comes for you, all he'll find is a clean PC. LOL

@kuepol

Get another HARD drive. SCREW it into your extra bay ORIFICE. Take your ARROW and point the PORN to a new LOVE NEST. Clean up your mess on the first HARD drive. Now you can stop burning on the SPANISH FLY. You're gonna grow hair on your palms. LMFAO

Good one Garmoon. This thread has gone from helping back up the tale of a casino to how to conserve space for scenes from a brothel.

Obviously you're doing something wrong if you're having problems with different software. What rip mode did you use in RipIt4Me and what output mode did you select (Full DVD, Movie + Menu, Movie Only, or ISO)? In Shrink what was your target selection, burn with Nero or one of the other options? To be compliant enough to play you have to have the VOBs (even with movie only). So, your not accessing the files means you're doing the accessing wrong or looking in the wrong place.

All it took for me was the latest version of DVDFab Decrypter 3.0.8.6 (03/02/2007) and then DVD Shrink.

Sweet as a nut!

A European disc wouldn't matter. If it were the case, all the software would have to be written for particular regions. That isn't the case.

You didn't answer one of my questions.
In Select backup target: did you select ISO Image or Hard Disk Folder as the target option?

Okay.
Shrink doesn't malfunction the way you describe. If you sent the output to a Hard Disk Folder, that means you created a Video_TS folder with IFO, BUP, and VOB files; if you did as you were supposed to. I have no idea where you went wrong. I'd suggest you learn more about how the software works. For RipIt4Me, http://www.ripit4me.org/guide.html and Shrink guides can be found here at AD, at Doom9, Digital Digest, Mr Bass, and DVDShrink.info. http://www.dvdshrink.info , you'll find some easy to understand guides there. Good luck.

OK.....

Let's see.....

I open my DVD Drive manually......

I get a blank DVD......

I put it in the DVD Drive (which is my taRget drive)......

I close it.......

I click of the DVD FAB Icon on my desktop......

I open my second DVD Drive manually......

I put Casino Royale in the second DVD Drive (which is my source drive).....

I close it......

DVD FAB analyzes it (couple of seconds)......

It finishes analyzing......

I click start.......

30 minutes or less later it is done......

IT'S NOT ABOUT PREFERENCE, BUT ABOUT GETTING IT DONE!!!!

Ron

Well...

If you're using FAB 3.0.5.0 maybe.

BUT, if you're using the latest update which is 3.0.8.5 (big difference there) then it's dummy proof as I have describe above!

If shrink does not work... swallow the ego... and get it DONE!

Ron
