hello all. (newbee here... hopefully i grow to be a jedi lol)
first i will start with my computer specs... (to help with, the up coming q's)
WINXP+SP2+MEDIA CENTER
core duo 1.66GHZ
1GB ram
120HD
DVD multi-drive
DirectX9c Video 7300
(i do not run this computer as a server)
this is the situation i am in...
I can "back up" and make "images" of CD based PC games...
But, i am not able to do the same for DVD based PC games!!!
when i try to do an image of a DVD PC game, a Notice pops up.
saying... FAT32 & FAT16 (somthin... somthin) 4GB (somthin).
I have done a bit of research on this problem.
(correct me if i'm wrong... please)
Apparently, to dump/burn (make an image) to HD, and if it is over 4GB, i need to have a NTFS system... i have located this file on my computer (as an extension) on my desk top [NTFS converter]. Yet i am hesitating to press the button, untill i find out if it is really worth it.
My Questions are..........
Q1) Is it a good idea to convert my C:/ drive to NTFS, and have my (partitioned) D:/ drive stay at FAT32?
Q2) What are all the cons of having NTFS (apart from a one way road, not to be able to go back to a FAT32 system, unless reboot)?
Q3) Why does'nt Microsoft automatically install this on their OS, if it is suppose to be real good. (bonus curiosity question... lol)?
Q4) will all programs/software work ok/good on a NTFS system?
Q5) does a duo core 1.66GHZ mean a total of 3.2GHZ (approx)... so i know which games to buy?
Q6) if i "press the button", what is the worst case scenario?
Thank you... (hopefully "scuba" reads this... he seems to know a bit... according to other threads)
