Sorry, but I have to vote for Overnet. When I first installed it and started it, I got like 30kbs straight away. I should be getting higher, but when I used eMule, I used to get 25kbs max. FOr like 1 hour. Sure, it has spyware, but I have the solution to stopping that spyware anyway ;). The only bad thing about Overnet is that you don't get many sources for each file.

Overnet is like the Kazaa of eMule.

What's there to be sorry for? Overnet rocks.

One tiny hole in your research. Onet uses the exact same network as eMule.

Sure, it has spyware

You do know that the 'spyware' is optional during the install right?

Yes, I knew, but actually it gives you spyware even if you say no. I scanned the Onet files and I had like this Bookdealer spyware or something.

Overnet is faster for me. I think probably eMule could beat it if my computer was left 24-7. We'll see.

Nah i only mentioned the T3 because with a T3 you dont really suffer much from the variability of a cable or dsl line (hence give credit to the claim). My results still concur for when i had DSL and now when i have Cable.

I never seem to be able to use the FTP stuff lol. And I can't be bothered to get CuteFTP or any other software.

Well then you are missing out if you cant be bothered. Some of the fastest links and arguably the fastest links available are FTP type links. A lot less overhead than most other techniques simply because it is a direct link.

Weeelll, in that case, is CuteFTP the best FTP client or is there an even better program?

Toiletman: CuteFTP is a simple FTP client... realistically, there is no such thing as a 'best ftp client' only because ftp clients are a very personal thing.

Daxx: You dont have to install the spyware.

Personally, DAP has always done wonders for me. I just delete all the spyware that comes with it and get a huge download boost. Too bad it doesn't work with Kazaa, eMule or Onet. :(

It is true..edonkey does install some spyware even if you de-select the option on install (there is a thread about this on the edonkey forum)

I get 57-60 max depending but at the end of the day....why do you think it's called Edonkey..

Doesn't e-donkey have a cap on d/load speed amyway ?

I haven't used eDonkey before, only eMule (couldn't figure that thing out and it was too slow for me anyway), and Overnet (using this right now but haven't downloaded anything in last few weeks due to limited storage capbility and no CD burner or DVD burner. WHo can get me the cheapest deal on a portable CD-burner? That is at the fastest speed available?

...and Overnet (free) is faster than eMule right off the Bat, and I have done any config to the Rout'r yet. Right from the start my DL's were "hashed" and resumed at around 20.0/KB. Since my first post above (6 1/2 hrs. ago) I have 391M down, and 493M up and average about 22Kb/sec down...30Kb/sec up.

I use a Linksys BEFSR41 and will setup to Port Triggering business tomorrow. I also run, without any appearent problem or speed-hit, Zone Alarm Pro.

Overnet seems at first glance to be faster last eMule straight out of the box. I imagine if I applied the Port trigger dilly's to the Rout'r and config the port whatevers with Zone Alarm I might even see some of that 80 & 90 down...

Oh, eMule used to eat-up all available bandwidth. Even though it would read 20 up & 5 down it would take forever for IE to load any webpage. I would have to turn eMule off in order to read the morning paper without waiting half an hour. Surfin the web while Overnet is running is great compared to eMule 0.30e.

I unchecked the opt-outs for the AdWarez, then ran "Ad-Aware 6" & "Spy-Bot SD" and found nothing but the last round of web cookies. I'm still concerned about Comcast Cable reviewing my up & down load habits then selling that information.

Rock On..visit Alaska
