this is it the hole they found. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MXNH6gnLE...s3news%2Ecom%2F
Quote: Just over 24 hours after we reported the PS3 $DK leak, resident Dev'er hacked2123 shared with us in iRC EFnet #PS3News the video below... which shows confirmation of the World's first public PS3 XMB Hole (vulnerability) found!! There are MANY details to report, so please bear with us while we address each throughout the night.
For starters, this specific PS3 XMB Hole is currently present in PS3 v1.00-1.11 Firmware. Jumping ahead briefly... it's now believed the reason why the GODS @ Paradox hinted that v1.60+ Firmware was NOT recommended to update to was simply because there is no OtherOS installer present. Also, at this time it's important to NOTE that PS3 Blu-ray Disc back-ups will boot but not run just yet.
We will cover all of the details on how this is accomplished shortly... until then, you can watch the video below and share your feedback in the Hacked2123's PS3 Back-up Video! Forum thread. w00t!!!
In fact I think we would be fooling our selves if we have a community this large, and did not realize that there are some enemies present.

Haha lol so the hack wasn't discovered by hacked2123,it was discovered by Sony themselves. The other thing I wanted to mention was the Sony SDK he is using is probably made for v1.11 firmware, not for anything higher so it doesn't really do people any good if they have anything higher than that. They need to focus on the OtherOS option, and instead of making a bootloader make a boot disc instead. That way it won't make a difference what firmware you run on.I'm not dumb when it comes to consoles, but when it comes to programming I don't have the experience to code something that advanced.I don't think it would be that hard though if you are experienced in coding though, and all I have to say is good job Sony for leaking their own SDK.

Actually Jlhfit give it some time man,and Blu-ray burners and the discs should go down in price bro.I seen off http://www.newegg.com they are selling the discs for $14 bucks, around the same time Dvd-DL media came out it was priced the same.I seen a Phillips Blu-ray burner off that site also priced at $500.I think in 6 months they will probably go down in price.

lol good point, but as everyone has said burners drop price quick. dvd burners were expensive, dual layers were, now blu rays r the ones. we will prolly be able to buy burned blu rays from people.

| Man it's a hot day today isn't it
Why did PDX all of a sudden finally decide to come out of the closet since all this news is "heating the ps3 scene up".

What is the point of saying you are close? When you "supposedly" have the loophole already? Instead of having people waste time on finding the hole PDX should have released whatever info they had so as to skip the invested time of just finding the loophole to begin with!
I mean seriously...if PDX says "We can't release it because it doesn't work on Euro PS3's" why then say you are close? What is the point? If PDX had ANY info to begin and released whatever they had the scene would have been leaps and bounds farther than it is right now! Because people would have then invested more time to other areas (including a Euro fix) instead of 4 months later with a little loophole....
Man I am so pissed I am just repeating myself in the same post!

Ya I have been annoyed sitting on 1.32 fw, but eh if you see all the progress that is going on at ps3news.com you would be surprised. I'm mean people are trying something everywhere, but pdx is the past. People are not waiting for pdx anymore and going off finding loopholes themselves which they have accomplished. We are very close to something here. I actually got a backuped ps2 to run without ne mods.

The guy in the video burned the game to a DVD-R since it could fit, do you guys think if he burned the game on a Blu-ray disc that would have made any difference?

In my last post I said "I got a ps2 backup to run without ne mods" It booted and then gave me an error message." But I actually got it to show up as a ps2 game.

I agree with Oner, and yeah I'm pissed off also.Paradox hasn't contributed anything so far,so why are they still being heard over the net.The loophole found doesn't really mean much, since it is hard enough as it is to get a hold of a Sony SDK anyway. The game doesn't play, because the Blu-ray drive has to initiate in Blu-ray mode.It is trying to read in a dvd state, which doesn't do anything for us.I wouldn't mind seeing somebody with some common sense get the type of support the people at ps3news get.I can't really say much since they are trying to do something I guess, but I find the demo released by Marcus at PS3dev.org gave more information and made more sense than any other group working on trying to hack the PS3.I guess I was kind of right though when I mentioned which group would introduce a hack for it first, because PS3dev.org found a loophole that works on any firmware and they also supplied information on it also.I guess you could consider PS3 SAK released before the demo, but no information was released on PS3 SAK that actually explains how it was made.I mean wouldn't you consider that being important.I don't understand why everything has to be kept secret, and what exactly is contributed to everybody else by keeping things like this secret.I don't know I'm just giving you all my opinion and how I feel about the PS3 scene so far.

Well, here is my contribution. First of all, I'm really tired of people slamming paradox. Yea, they had >hints< at an iso loader. just hints mind you. they could be false, they could be true. W/e. For years, they have been providing awesome cracks and keygens for various programs. Every one is complaining about how there isn't an ISO loader. Hey, why don't you help then? I'm fairly sure that it can't be easy trying to manipulate hardware that $ony is trying its best to keep secure. Just because exploits and holes can be found, doesn't mean we have the ability to use those holes very easily. How many hacks are there for the 360? and its been out a year longer. so calm down.

So you are basically saying they should get a pass on this crap they pulled...nope not from me. If they would have provided proof that what they "did" is "real" then I would be more lenient but as far as I'm concerned as well as a HUGE majority of the scene what they did was BS.
Also you shouldn't throw stones at people who have ACTUALLY contributed something to the scene, I have done my part in giving stuff/information to people for nothing in return. I am quite sure you can't say the same, especially when the only contribution you have made is contradictory in itself.

I agree with you Oner, and to Chaos_ I have contributed alot more than you ever have.I haven't seen any accomplishments from Paradox,so why don't you be my guest and tell us all what they have done so far.I'm sure I can do just as good as Paradox has,and I would even bet money on it.The holes are easier than you think, and if you studied any of the recent consoles Sony makes you would see that.I don't have any problem helping out the scene, and when I normally find something I let everybody know.I also think it is funny someone would actually spend time making little riddles in nfo files, instead of just letting you know what the hell they are talking about.I also think it is funny Chaos_ acts like he has intentions of doing something, well until you actually do something Chaos_ I will make an effort.I don't see you making any progress, and by all means we should watch what we say so we don't offend the mighty Paradox...What a joke, and Paradox is a good example why the PS3 scene hasn't contributed much so far.

i really havent contributed anything but i have learned alot from this site so first of all id like to say thanks to all who have contributed to everything not just ps3. i agree, though im a little dissapointed that nothing has come out yet but like others have said it is still early. i mean we've had our ps3's for what like 8 months now. im sure something will come about soon enough. and if not i guess ill wait longer. but props to all who ahve contributed and are still trying to find out more. i wish i had the knowledge to try and figure this stuff out myself, but alas i am just a common blue collar guy who does whatever pays at the moment and can only do this sh*t by others direction. so thanks again to all and ill keep waiting.
