I just got my Ps3 and was wondering why the game system gets so hot?

I was also wondering how to hook up to the internet? Need Router?

I don't know why, it just does get hot. Just keep it away from walls/corners and you will be fine. Oh, and to hook up to the internet you don't need a router. You can also connect like on the PS2 with an Ethernet cable to your modem. I use a router with wireless though.

i tried going straight through my modem and never managed to get online.
Tried easy, aoutomatic all manually input dns etc etc
always was succesful with ip and i had the dns server name error!
NOw im going to try using my internet on and using ethernet crossover .
anyoe know if this will work?

I'm sure you need to restart your modem by turning the power on and off if you want to connect the ps3 straight to it.

trust me mate i have tried everything including this. Turned off for 5,10 and ven left off for 3 hours no luck.
Its not my ps3 as i took it to my uncles to try online (has wirless router worked fine~!)
so can i get online using a cross over cable to my pc u think?

You should be able to get online using Internet Connection Sharing with your PC however I would say this can be quite complicated at times (usally more complecated then direct connection).

You using correct DNS numbers with direct connection - you putting in your ISP username and password correctly - have you spoken to your ISP to be sure that they let you use more than one device/internet gaming?
