Hi
Just wondered if someone could advise me where I may have gone wrong please. Basically I'm trying to back up a Region 2 version of Howl's moving castle (the 1 disc version with the multi angle storyboards).
I can successfully rip it and then open it in DVD Shrink but the compression is too high due to the storyboard angle. So I used VobBlanker to Remove Cell ID 2 (there's 1 and 2, 1 being the movie) / Angle 2 and reauthored it and it plays fine in powerdvd off the hard drive but is about 6.5gb in size.
The problem is that DVD Shrink will now analyse this and bring up a runtime error at 100% and close. I've tried FixVTS which seems to find errors and fix them but still get the same issue with DVD Shrink.
Any help would be appreciated :)
Cheers

Removing CellID 2 and use FixVTS to fix it is not the right way to deal with multi-angle title. You should be using del_angles.exe (resides in same folder as VobBlanker) to keep the angle you want, then process with VobBlanker. OR you can use PgcEdit, which has a built-in Del Angles function in PGC Editor, then process with VobBlanker.

if the video compression is too much (well it is, for DVD Shrink if you do 'full disc') just use a.n.other program that can handle the video compression (DVD Rebuilder springs to mind) however my first suggestion would be just to do 'movie only' therefore keeping the video compression at a decent figure (for the main feature). For the other bits you (may) want to see, you have the original DVD to fall back on, ie to pop in to the dvd player..
..it's been a long time since i did this one but i did movie only and the output (via DVD Shrink) was excellent

Iam having the same problem as Ireguard but i have used del-angels. Shrink still shows a runtime error, with a message abnormal program termination. Any sugestions to solve this and why shrink does this. Princess Mononoke without the angels runs perfect when watching it from the hard drive but shrink has problems with analyzing it.

What version of RipIt4Me are you using and which rip mode, 1 Click or Wizard?

Your problem may be with the decryption software. The decryption software portion of DVD Shrink is obsolete. Get the RipIt4Me or DVDFab HD Decrypter and decrypt the source files and then open them with Shrink. RipIt4Me is no longer supported and there's a few DVDs it can't process the files for.

Iam not having a problem with decrpyting with shrink. Shrink will not analyze the audio_ts files after I have removed the extra angels with vobblanker from princess mononoke.

I'd be very surprised if anything was found in an audio_ts folder. With DVD video (factory DVDs) the sound is included in the Video_TS folder.

Sorry, typing error i meant the video file not the audio file. Pacman would you know why shrink would have a runtime error? What would produce a runtime error and a termination of the analysis after getting rid of files of a different angle from a file?

The analysis in Shrink is a good test for DVD compliance. Taking out files can sometimes alter the structure enough that it becomes noncompliant. Try processing the files through FixVTS before processing with Shrink.

I will give it a try. It might be to do with me not getting rid of a file created by del-angels in the video file before processing the files in vobblanker. Which somehow effects shrink.

With vobblanker and angles, even if it changes the status of some vobs to "Skip" I change them back to Process. may seem obvious but still works
