I see that DVD Shrink can write to a DVD-9 disk.

That being the case will the original video quality of a dual layer movie be retained and burned to a DVD-9 disk without compression?

I did a search about this and did not find much info to be sure about.

Hi,

Welcome to afterdawn. First let me tell you that shrink does not have a burn engine therefore it does not burn..it uses another program (i.e. Nero, imageburn and a few others) to burn to dvd. The purpose of using DVD Shrink is to make dvd compliant files small enough to fit onto a DVD-5 (single layer dvd). Using a DVD-9 would not require compression as the movie that you do not wish to compress can be burned to it with a layer break. One movie that comes to mind is Lord of the Rings which most here have burned to a dual layer dvd without any compression. I suggest you look at the following link to get some information:

The quick answer is yes, but there really would be no need to use Shrink at all for creating a Dual Layer disk it would just be over kill and unecessary. I would suggest you just use this method.

1. Rip movie to hard drive with DVDFab Decrypter
2. Burn Dual Layer disk with ImgBurn

Thats simple, quick and will give you a very good backup!

Of course DVD Shrink does not burn the disk. Where was my head?
