Recently I returned to file-sharing on the eMule network. My connection speed is good, somewhere in the 30 billions. About a week later I installed a Belkin Router. And my connection speed suffered dearly (down to 50 thousand) and the message in thelog says my Port 4662 is not reachable. I know there's a simple solution, but I didn't find it in Dela's eMule tutorial that I've followed to the letter every time I set up eMule. Can someone please assist?

Hmmm ... belkin.... i think you need to goto http://192.168.2.0 or http://192.168.2.1 (default no password), click 'Initial Setup' on the left hand pane and goto Virtual Server? This is where you do your port forwarding.

Praetor,

Thanks for the help... I'm an idiot, I've done what you asked ... what do I do now? Which is to say that I don't see eMule (or eDonkey) as an "add" option. And what is the process after that? Thanks a billion.

Signed,
An Idiot

Here's where I am now... After following the link... Logging On... Clicking "Virtual Servers"... I am met with a pull down that has many different program names such as Kazaa. There is no eMule. I select Kazaa and add it... It Fills in the inbound port numbers as [1024]-[1024] and TCP, I put a [1] in the last IP address box ... and it fills in [1024] and [1024] for the "Private Port". I then use my deductive reasoning and know that eMule uses port 4662. So in the next slot I type eMule in as the description and replace the 1024's with 4662's. I apply the changes and reboot. Its still not working... what am I doing wrong? Thanks a lot!

It might be called Port Fowarding... are you sure you have a Belkin Router?

ok, as most lvl techs that work for a small town high speed monopoly are, I am stuck dealing with ignorance here. Yet I am prety much stuck w/ this proivider if I am to continue to live in my small town and only have to live with 3 other ppl on my dead end road using the service. the ADSL modem they use here that comes with the contract[yeah I leanred my lesson ok] is a DQ visionnet512/128 external NAP firewalled modem. Being a long time user of the old 56k for so long, I am ignorant to how I can even get the subnet mask IP so that ai cna slo use port forwarding. let alone the buggas say the customer can not gain access to the interal setings of that modem, lol, yeah watch me. ya bought it, ya own it right. only thing bout just shutting of the "bridge" is that I use 2kPro and I would prefer not to have to add more running aps just to get ppp on here.
so, in short, could someone please assist me. I read through all the other threads and found no such info other than this thread. thankxz

I dont quite know what you are askin still hehe (kinda sleep so it may not be your fault) but....
1. For the avg home user and the avg home router, you will be on a C-Subnet which means all computers connected to that router have an IP address of the pattern 192.168.1.# or something to that effect (i.e., SMC/Belkin routers typically are 192.168.2.#). So the subnet mask would be 255.255.255.0
2. To fix the LowID thing there are two options: port forwarding and placing your computer in the DMZ (outside the firewall). It is easier and reccommended that you try port forwarding

How to Setuo Port Forwarding With Belkin Routers
1. Goto http://192.168.2.1:88/
2. Click Login
3. Click Initial Setup
4. Goto Virtual Server
5. For the Private IP , enter in the very last pair of numbers on the target computer
6. Enter in the private and public ports. Repeat for as many ports as needed
7. Click the Enter Button at the bottom when you are done
Complete.

How to Take a Computer Out From Behind the Firewall With a Belkin Firewall
1. Goto http://192.168.2.1:88/
2. Click Login
3. Click Initial Setup
4. Goto DMZ
5. For the Setting , enter in the very last pair of numbers on the target computer
6. Click Enable
7. Click the Enter Button at the bottom when you are done
Complete.
