The Georgia man sure had his priorities in order, watch the movie then get high. The public just needs to know that cinema employees are given bonuses for catching cam thieves.

This is real funny. The MPAA has been saying for some time now that we here in Canada are responsible for 50% of pirated movies.

Hmmmm. Tell me again where these people were caught?!? Yea I know its only one incident. But makes you say look in your own backyard before you start pointing the finger at others.

Hell yeah, a $500 bonus is a lot when you're only making $6/hr too.

The suspect in Georgia was also carrying an ounce of marijuana but only faces charges for the camming because apparently in Georgia, carrying illegal drugs is better than illegally recording a film.
lawmakers need to get thier priorities strait.video taping movies is not as bad as illegal drugs. and also up to a year in jail and a $2500 fine for using a cell phone to record a movie. the person would have only been able to get about 20 seconds of film. this is just retarded.

people... be afraid... be very afraid... with this new camcorder law comes in the new law, brining in outside food into theaters.. would-be law breakers are now sentenced up to 4 years in prison because someone thought it'd be fun to bring in a few pounds of potato chips, 3 bottles of pepsi, and 2 bags of popcorn...

oh shit, I just gave them new ideas... =P

Yeah really, this is one movie that I doubt they can blame piracy on for sales. When it comes down to it, it's not in the same league as Ghost Rider, which was just a pile of crap. Besides, if a guy's head is obstructing my view, I would rather pay $8 or more for a ticket to tell him to sit the hell down!

bro you don't understand.. even if you record like 3 seconds of jackass 2 on theater of one of them farting is enough to land you in jail for about six months and give you 2500 fines nowadays... its called, making thy money.

Pretty soon they wont need to film in the theatres. They have machines that digitize each frame by scanning it. A little piece on the camera that scans it directly to a computer in real time. Much better quality than a guy chomping on popcorn in a movie. There will always be a way around everything

no problems only solutions

I understand that NYC prosecutors could only ask for jail sentence + fines but how come in all the other cases the MPAA didn't ask for death penalty ?

The way that we are told dont buy a pirated movie because there'll be someones head in the way is ridiculous.

If it happened to the guy trying to make a perfect copy, what are the chances i will be able to watch it at the cinema without some muppet talking or laughing, or bobbing their head into my view, chomping on popcorn.

I agree with anyone who says wait till its out on dvd.

The film is not going to be any worse if i wait a few months.

In fact it will probably come with extras...

...and then more extras a few months later

Why do you need the whole film in cam quality to judge whether it is worth spending any money on?

Most people can tell from a Trailer whether it's their cup of tea or not. I think downloading a cam copy to make sure you like a film, and that it's worth spending any money, is a bit over the top to be honest.

.......... because there is a limit to how much hollywoodisim I can take, trailers show jack sht when it comes to the the damage "down conversion to film" dose. How many trailers make the movie look worse than it is?All in all either I preview or have nothing to do with it altogether either way its their loss 90% of the time, its not like they are making movies for "my" consumption anyway..

Fair enough, i watch the transformer trailer, and i know i wont go and watch it at the cinema. I wont rush out to buy or rent it. But i will end up watching it some day.

Most films are awful, and you can tell from the trailer instantly, or even the movie poster.
