after I choose back up I select the quality settings tab so I can select the Compress video with high adaptive error compensation + Max Smooth. These options are visable but in gray and won't let me change them for any back up. Any help?

is it doing that on all movies your backing up?

does the movie your doing require compression?

try a clean reinstall of the program

We shall go to the end,we shall fight in France,we shall fight on the seas and oceans,we shall fight with growing confidence and growing strength in the air,we shall defend our Island, whatever the cost may be,we shall fight on the beaches,we shall fight on the landing grounds,we shall fight in the fields and in the streets,we shall fight in the hills;we shall never surrender

I will try to reinstall. Do I need to remove it in the control panel first? Yes I can't change the settings on all movies.

If the compression required to backup the movie to a DVD-5 disk is under 90% (less than 10% compression), then shrink's quality settings will not be active. Shrink will disable this option when compression is low as it is not needed, shrink's quality settings will do nothing to enhance picture quality in this case and so will be grayed out.
