Dude, You need to think about this carefully.
If you want to play online, then you need to buy game and PS3 of same region.
For example, say, you got US PS3, and you got EU game. You can play it off-line but you can't play it online.
I got Japan/Asian PS3 and I got Resistence EU game. I can play it off-line no problem. However, I can't go online at all because my game and my PS3 are not from the same region.
If i wish to play Resistence Online, then I would need to buy Resistence from Japan, not here (UK).
It is true that Sony did say that PS3 game are region free, but only to extent that's all. It is region-free for off-line play. But it is region-protection for on-line play (something Sony didn't announce this pubilicy - cheeky g*ts).
Speaking of regions anyone with an Australian ps3 might wanna check out my thread about getting into home beta. Also if create a eu account on a jap ps3 then in theory u can play that game online try that and let me know if it works
