History -
In the past I have used DVD Architect4 to encode all avi / mpeg2 files then burn from within Architect - the output mpeg2 programs look ok, but disappointing given what they looked like as an avi. Then I found CCE - much better results - superb in fact! Forget about artifacts and blocky bits. The images on screen are as cool as the original avi's. Can't speak more highly of the quality of this program.

Problem -
I just completed an underwater video avi to mpeg2 conversion using CCE 2.70 SP. The avi was rendered in Vegas 7.
I then used Architect to burn it at a max of 8k but there is a staccato or freeze frame effect/strobing effect of seaweed moving toward camera as I glide over it. I.E, the motion is staggered on the foreground objects yet the vision further in the BG is smooth. I suppose that has something to do with the size of the FG object or the rate at which it is moving forward? The staccato effect is so distracting/noticeable that the burn cannot be used.

I then rendered and burned the avi with NERO, and no problem with the staccato/ strobing but a noticeable drop in image quality.

Can anyone here advise me why this would be happening. Using the settings below, all other encodings using CCE have been stellar, just this foreground strobing problem on this one.

Settings -
CCE 2.70
PAL
Multipass V/C 30; Pass 3
Bitrate - Avg 6K: Min 0 Max 9k
Aspect 4:3
Under GOP sequence- M= 3 ; N/M 4 [for PAL setting]
GOP header every 3 x N frames
Seq Header every 1 GOPs
Add Sequence end code
Luminence 6-235
Offset Line; 0

Picture quality - all filters off
Quantizer characteristics - 28
Intrablock DC precision - 10bit
Block scan order - Alternate

Any advice on this problem or advice about using CCE 2.7 SP is appreciated.
