Well the internal fan on my Japanese Ps3 has decide to spin as slow as possible so had to purchase a Cooler.

Well I liked the look of the Nyko Cooler so purchased one and have to say I like the way it fits and looks attached to the PS3. I also liked the way it gets its supply from the original power lead and no external psu is required.Being able to alter the fan speeds yourself is a good plus too.

Due to my PS3 internal fan having problem's(turning slowly). With the machine being a Japanese import I could not get the machine repaired under warranty. So this is why I purchased the Nyko Cooler the Ps3 is useable in a fashion.

Did look at the other models but thought more would be better.(Fans)

Do have a second machine which is crunching Folding at home 24/7 and do not or intend to buy a fan for this as the Ps3 internal fan running correctly should be good enough.(Has been crunching for 3 months with no problems)

Has anyone else had any problem's with the Ps3 Cooling failing.

Wow oner, 2 Ps3's??! Must be that good huh? Yeah just4fun thats the exact opposite of this and the M$ machine, there have been little to none accounts of the US PS3 over-heating, infact im with oner on this, I've NEVER heard of a US PS3 over-heating, guess Sony corrected whatever power problem with their fans they had with the Japanese version...what exactly do you mean by crunching folding? You're saying your other machine is making a grinding or 'crunching' noise? You gotta be kidding me if you think that's fine and normal....

Im on the same boat, never heard of one overheating or the fan not working properly.

Folding at home is a program you which you run to allow them to use your ps3's processing power for research.

From what I read if I remember correctly. The PS3 is the current fastest supercomputer out there. So therefore you can choose on the media bar "Folding Home" which lets it crunch numbers at an alarming speed for things like cancer research and such.

Actually the fastest supercomputer out there is the Blue Gene/P (Unveiled On June 26, 2007 by IBM). It uses the same processing technology of the PS3. I think it has like 4 terabytes of RAM or something...Folding @ Home is efficient because once you have like more than a thousand PS3's doing CPU cycles for research it's pretty fast.

GENERATION 98: The first time you see this, copy it into your sig on any forum and subtract 1 from the generation. Social experiment.

I have owned 2 PS3s BOTH of them froze up. My first one would cut off while playing Call of Duty and I got an error code. Both Sony and Activision had no idea what was wrong on the numerous calls I made. I did everything they told me to do and their conclusion was to take it back for another one if I didn't want them to send me a refurb.
Currently my newer one I've had only 2 months now, freezes the screen during heavy screen action while playing Oblivion. This is after only 1 hour of game play in a cool house with the PS3 free standing with no air flow obstruction. Monday I'll be returning this one as well. Sucks for them, another new playstation for me.

Nope haven't noticed any overheating with my internal fan. Hope that I don't to, but it doesn't seem that likely cause I haven't heard of lots of it.

Well the 2nd machine runs very cool even though it runs folding at home 24/7 so there is no problem with the PS3 cooling system when its working correctly.

Have noticed if the Nyko fans are pushing air out the back of the faulty Ps3 with little heat felt in the air flow then the internal fan is not spining and the Ps3 works for approx 5 minutes and then freeze's. If I tap the bottom of the machine the internal fan starts up and with the help of the Nyko cooler the Ps3 is usable. But as the internal fan is not spinning at the correct speed the heat of the air coming out the back of the machine is HOT not just warm. But supose as long as the air coming out is HOT then there is some cooling going on and it must be enough as the machine can be on for hours like this with no problems.Have watched a few PS3 dismantle video's.Might have a go but at this present moment it works and I would be sick if I dismantled it then put it back together to find it doesnt anymore.

Just in case you don't know already, make sure to leave space on the right side of the ps3 as fans evacuate warm air there too.
