Hi All,
Just backed up my copy of Firehouse Dog used Shrink alone with no problems.
I then tried the latest version of Fabhddecrypter and encountered a problem using the scene selection. I couldn't toggle to a scene the screen just goes blank.
I could toggle to play movie. I just don't know what the problem is.
Thanks
Goldy

Hey Goldyclk.

With FabHD Decrypter, that "feature" you speak of is available with the Platinum version....along with all the other goodies.(unless that's what you have) Why not use Shrink to Re-author? OR if you want the best apps then go for AnyDVD and CloneDVD2.
Sure they are not free, but they are seriously worth it. Amongst the many, including myself, have the belief that the more tools you have to back up the better. Some may work well with others and some don't, but you'll come up with a way to beat that "stubborn" DVD.

Some hate the clutter and others don't mind as long as the job gets done. Your Dollars your call. :)

End of long winded rant. LOL

Hope this helps out.

PS: If you want more freeware apps and guides, just let us know.

EDIT: Hellooo syxguns! It's been a while. (maybe i need to get out more...lol) Hope all is well with you and yours?

I sounds like the DVD Structure is the problem. As "onya" said, the more programs you have to get the job done the better. If I were you I would try to run the DVD through VobBlanker and see if it will restructure the DVD for you. Here is the home page: http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/vobblanker.htm

There are guides there for you assistance as well. The program looks difficult but it is not. Here is another guide by my buddy "alkohol" for beginners of using the program: http://my.afterdawn.com/alkohol/blog_entry.cfm?id=1481

Sometimes the rips fail. Try to rip again using a different ripper. As "onya" said a good one is AnyDVD. There is another one that is not updated any longer but still has the ability to do a good job. You will need to download DVD Decrypter to have the program work. Remember that DVD Decrypter and RipIt4Me are not updated any longer, but I still here that RI4M is working quite well.

Let us know how it goes!!

Thanks for the responses.
I've never had a problem using Fab in the past. I do have Ripit and Dvddecrypter and have been very successful over the many years I've been backing up my copies of dvd's.
I was just experimenting with Fab's new version and in the past I always
could use the scene selections. It just didn't work with Firehouse Dog .
I was able to select a scene when I just used Shrink to decrypt and encode.
I'll continue to use Ripit and Shrink(the free stuff)and if that fails I'll try Fab. If Fab fails then I'll open my wallet and get AnyDvd & CloneDvd from Slysoft.
I was just wondering what went wrong when I used Fabhd?
I look forward to the help on this site.
Thanks

You do not really need CloneDVD2 from slysoft. That program is for easy use, but it does not remove everything that you may desire to remove. By using free programs like VobBlanker you could remove everything that you do not want in the film.

There are a number of different ways to go, and everyone uses a little different technique, but you may ask for direction and each will respond with a little different way to do it.

Some will tell you that CloneDVD2 will remove all unwanted material, but it does not. I do not use VobBlanker, but I did for many years. It will allow you to remove anything that you do not want. I use DVDReMake Pro. With DVDRMP I have the option to change menu's and restructure DVD's. That program you have to pay for but it is worth every cent.
