starview problems help needed please

hi to ya all
i am a newbie to this stuff but i have followed instructions and getting nowhere. i flashed my starview on 27th may with ver 300e
update but ever since then i have had problems with the picture
freezing and going blank for approx 10-15 seconds and then comes
back ok again.
this happens about every 15-20 minutes and is annoying the crap
out of me.i have downloaded ver 400e and unzipped but the update
keeps failing.i have bought a new modem cable in case it was the
old one but still no joy. ports 1 and 4 on pc say access denied
but when i try it on 3 or 4 the download box appears but stays
at 0% and then flash failed message appears.
have tried putting keycodes in manually but when i try to store
them after i exit out and go back in again it still say provider
n*l when i want it to say t***pest.
when i have done a factory setting the system is still showing
the ver 300e update that i flashed in may. should that still be
showing when it should of returned to factory settings??
i've been told that there were some glitches in the 300e software
that is probably causing my picture freezing problem and that
the 400e should correct it... so how do i get it to load??.
i know you guys probably get bored
stiff of answering questions from pc illiterate twats like me
but i need your help big time cos my starview is going to be
bouncing off the wall before long

1)it keeps saying n*l as this is only a default ,e.g. if u store them on TW , it will be on TW.
2)factoty reset will only change box back to default settings, it will not change any firmware on it !
3)That freezing and scrambling on screen is because of v3 thats why v4 came out and has been working great 1
4)As for your downloading problem, I suggest u download the gtrom loader again, then download the v4 and stick it onto it
get them both at the Eko.4 link under my post !
v4 is only for starview .
starview 'the box' uses different firmware !

I have the Starview NOT The Box.
When I got it back in May I loaded it with the 3.00 o.k. but now it won't take 4.00 just as the guy describes in the original thread.

your best bet would be to download both software and firmware again.
i presume your using the right cables as u have already put v3 onto it , so its not the cable .where did u download the v4 from ?

I got the v4 from a link supplied by the supplier, Satandcable. I will try your version tonight when I get home and let you know how I get on. Thanks.

downloaded both the loader and firmware from wizzards sat
download site.will try it tonight with software from this
site and see what happens. strange thing is the freezing
doesn't ever happen on the terrestrial channels only on
the movie channels(but not prem hid for some reason) and
s*y sports channels.is there a valid reason for this??

Thats probably a problem in your area. I dont have that. but then when i had v3 on it was freezing every 15 mins so id say with v4 u should be ok !
that other site u got the stuff from is ok too so it could be a bad flash....

Paul best to put box back to factory settings first then put your box in standby mode then flash the box and wait till after you see 100% for another 1min or so till another message comes on your pc that should be it sorted turn box off take cable out and turn box on again also please note when connecting cable to pc power down your pc first and connect both ends of cable to box and pc ok

no worries paul !
when u flash , make sure it says that flash is completed ! ie when it hits 100% ( as ferg said) wait for about 20 seconds . then turn off box and plug into tv. click the starview link under my post and go through the motions there. feel free to ask as many questions as u want as im sure somebody will sort u out !

TRIED FOLLOWING ALL YOUR ADVICE BUT DOWNLOAD REFUSES TO
START.JUST KEEP GETTING FLASH FAILED MESSAGE. DON'T KNOW
WHAT ELSE TO TRY. WHEN I RESET THE BOX TO FACTORY SETTINGS
THE UPDATE OF VER 3 THAT I DID BACK IN MAY IS STILL SHOWING
IN THE SYSTEM. IS THAT NORMAL COS IT OBVIOUSLY WASN'T ON
THERE FROM NEW??.

Are u sure its a 'nul modem cable ' that u are using cause other cables wont work .

YES MATE HAVE TRIED IT WITH CABLE THAT CAME WITH THE BOX THAT
FLASHED VER 3 OK AND WITH A NEW ONE FROM MAPLINS THAT COST ME
A BLOODY TENNER AND NOTHING IS WORKING. I CAN'T TAKE THE OTHER
PORT CABLE OUT COS THATS THE ONE THAT GOES TO MY MONITOR SO I
WOULDN'T BE ABLE TO SEE WHAT WAS HAPPENING WITH THE TRANSFER.
I AM GOING TO THREATEN IT TONIGHT WITH A 20LB LUMP HAMMER.

hi can anyone help me aswel?
my box was working fine and suddenly the box froze pic went but the bar at the bottom stayed. switched all powers off and when i switch it on the bar is stil frozen on the last viewed but no pic the box just says o on front and the remote does not work

Is your box a clone and have you recently updated it ?

On your gtrom loader you should have the following :
serial port : com 1
Baud rate :115200
stb model :GCR 3510
your bin : v4.00
file type :tick 'app file only'
then press download...
see how that goes for u !

following what is written on this site i think ours is the 1st gen original as it is small like the clone but has the original lookin remote.. since having it i have not done anything to it in view of updating>. as im cr*p at stuff like that as far as i can remember the version was a 2.57 (i think?) something like that. as i originally said it froze middle of a viewing of the all important kids tv. and now when we switch it on the front lights flick and it reads 0 and thats itdoes not respond when press anything on the box or remote and the screen is now black/blank

as we u really have to make sure because the wrong firmware on it will kill the box.
also check the vents: First Generation = 13 x 7 vents
Genuine = 25 x 7 vents
Clone = 18 x 7 vents

even today its still dead it said on last night but cant be viewed just n was showing now nothing

Hello all, I got a "THE BOX" yesterday on the basis that it was plug and play. Well I've plugged but it only makes a row of lights across the front move.I just moved it into the place my starview is working put all leads in right places but it never gets to ON. When I replace the starview into that position on same leads ect it starts just the same, lights moving across but within a couple of seconds it shows on and works fine. Am I missing something ? I aren't too hot on a computer so don't fancy giving that a try. Any help much appreciated.
