going to buy a core system...yes...I finally fu*king saved $300...
want to put the firewire on it.....going after a sumsung drive......I am going to need a pioneer burning with bitsetting and a compatible chip in my computer....but what does a compatible chip fu*king mean? Isn't there a pdf guide on doing this sh*t? What else do I need?
I need some serious help please

Compatible chip is being reffered to as the chipset that you flash the drive with. The best option is to buy a via 6421 A or L chipset.

What is easier? Flashing a MS25 Samsung drive or getting the hatichi in modeB withe Xecuter connectivity kit? Or should I just buy a Premod 360? Is the modchips out there for the 360 any good? If so, which one and where should I buy it?

If you buy a VIA 6421a chipset PCI SATA card, all drives are equally easy. Slax 2.1 works with Hitachi's and the 10-sec bad flash works with MS28 drives. MS25 works as well.

So it's not the end of the world if I get a MS28 instead of a MS25 system? because MS25 are pretty hard to find now these days....
So you don't have to purchase anything extra to flash the MS28 system besides having the VIA 6241a SATA card? You can download Slax 2.1 right?

Right, you can download SLAX 2.1 and the VIA 6421a is all you'll need.

the hitachi is sooo easy to flash if you have the connectivity kit. (Even if you dont) Once you get it on the computer you can use birdy hitachi lg flasher. basicly you click once to backup then again to flash and your done.

I seriously looked everywhere at all my local electronics stores and they don't have the pioneer DVR-111D or the VIA 6241a SATA card? WTF!!!!!!!!!!!! Best buy or even Wal-mart don't carry these sh*t!!!
So I have to order them then? If so where? Can someone give the url?

If your wanting to get your system modded i would recommend www.360mods.net
Flashing your drive is easy if you have some general know-how and are willing to gather all the information you can before doing so you can do it. If your ignorant and hasty it can lead to you buying a whole nother system which ive seen many people do many times before.

Also about the burners. In general you dont have to buy the pioneer to backup games. Really any quality name DVD DL burner will do it. I use a nec 3500AG and have had no problems.

I've sold a few on ebay with some slick wording to get them through. I sent you a PM with the details on a couple I have available if interested. Due to the raids a couple of weeks ago pretty much all the good sites in the US are shut down more or less as you can read about in this thread.

Also just for general reference because ive seen this a couple times. You are flashing the "Firmware" not firewire. Firewire is a type of data bus.
