Is this a dvd shrink 3.2 problem or Ripit4me problem?

Hi guys I am an amatuer so this might not be as hard as I make it seem. I have been backing up my kids movie collection and I notice I no longer can open up files on dvd shrink 3.2

When I burn the disc using ripit4me and dvd decryptor it burns to my c drive or f drive and I see the file there. But when I try to open the file in dvd shrink 3.2 it says "DVD SHRINK ENCOUNTERED AN ERROR AND CANNOT CONTINUE."

Sometimes it says invalid data in file and it list my file in the c drive that is invalid. I dont know what I am doing wrong. I burned about a dozens of my movies and no problems. Now I can burn anything. I burned it with dvdfab platinum & ripit4me and all I am trying to do now is open the file in the c drive or f drive where I store my media and make a hard copy.

Any help?

Just to make this question a little clearer...

1) DVD Shrink does not BURN. It uses nero or other software to do this job.

2) DVD Shrink will no longer DECRYPT/RIP the latest movie releases. (it hasn't been updated for quite some time) It is however a freeware transcoding tool that is valued greatly. DON'T UN-INSTALL.

Use the following links for FREEWARE and not so free-ware solutions. Follow the guides step by step. Please note that having several apps for backing up your movies, IS recommended and so the more tools you have....the better the success. (generally)

Try HERE.

And then HERE.

Use the freeware to your advantage, it'll serve you well. If you want the best then PAY for SLYSOFT's AnyDVD and CloneDVD. Both have trial periods but be assured they ARE WORTH the outlay.

Well Okay sorry for being not technically correct in wording my problem. I guess since I use dvd shrink 3.2 to extract files from either a disc or my harddrive and then use dvd shrink 3.2 to backup the media on a disc I consider it a program I use to burn.

All that aside I still can't do what I use to do 2 days ago and that is open up video files on my harddrive. So can anyone help me or what?

dvdshrink 3.2 opens the disc but the second option to open the file on my harddrive does not work anymore. I can open any files on my harddrive that are movies now.

Did I somehow offend? The written word can often be misinterpreted, I asure you that I meant well.

If you use Xp, then try to go back a week or so with System Restore (backup data first) this can often be the solution. As for the links provided, try them AFTER a system restart and post on how you go.

No you did not offend I am just frustrated having no solution to this problem. I just did a system restore and lost lots of data 4 days ago. I had to re install ripit4me and dvd shrink 3.2 along with fixdvs.

Every since I installed this again on the computer, I burned a couple of movies and now this.

I will try the system restore after saving some files.

Guys someone please help me here. I thought this was the internet where more then one person can offer an opinion. ..

I think my problem is in ripit4me. I notice that when I try to copy a dvd to my harddrive with ripit4me it gives me the following error message..."the rip seems to have been aborted, ripit4me can not continue.

what I have been doing is bybassing that error message and I hit buttons making it at least appear to copy the dvd to my harddrive. I now notice that no movie I attempt to copy will be readable by dvdshrink. So please tell me what I am doing wrong.

I tried using dvdfab delux but once again after I try to open up that file with dvd shrink 3.2 it wont open.

Past movies I copied to my harddrive like teenage mutant ninja turtles will open on dvd shrink. But all movies I copied since then (when getting the ripit4me error message) all get the message DVD SHRINK encountered an error and can not continue. then it says in dvd shrink 3.2

"INVALID DATA IN FILE C:\cars/video_ts\vts_10_1.vob"

Every movie I copy onto my harddrive with ripit4me or dvd fab delux simply will not open in dvd shrink 3.2

Does anyone exist out there who can help resolve this???????????

correction I use ripit4me or dvd fab PLATINUM (no such thing as dvd fab delux) to copy my movies to my harddrive, and then I use dvd shrink 3.2 to shrink the movie and create a hard copy to my external drive.

Try using 1-Click mode instead of the wizard in Ripit4Me. Otherwise try DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip the movie to your HDD first as suggested by onya. R4M has been removed from the internet and is it's availability is limited as well is support for it.

Update guys
I tried something different this time. I tried copying the disc with dvd fab instead of ripit4me and this time I ripped it to my c drive instead of my external drive f. Next I opened dvd shrink and looked on the c drive for it and when I clicked the file it started analysing. SO IT WORKED. I guess I will no longer be able to use ripit4me because it just wont burn to my harddrives like it used to.

Anybody think I should pay for an upgrade of dvd decryptor?

Looks like I spoke too soon. So far I have burned this movie 3 times and each hardcopy fails to be duplicatable. I took off the menus and previews and extras and just burned the movie. My burner from discmakers keeps telling me it failed to duplicate. So I guess since I cant copy my hard copy of cars if I sat an watched the copy dvd decryptor made I am going to have problems. I dont see how this copy can be watched from front to back and it cant be duplicated.

In case your wondering I try to back up my library of rented kids movies with 2 copies since i delete it from my hard drive. I just hate rented the same movie twice just to make copies.

So folks dvd shrink works but something is fishy about cars movie copy ability. I will keep trying other movies and see what is wrong. PS I tried copying the movie with slower speeds and it still stops after 95% complete burns.
