so I had been backing things up occasionally with DVDshrink 3.2 and Nero for quite a few months.
recently I tried to back something up and the settings on DVDshrink had all seemingly changed by themselves.
it will no longer let me select "perform deep analysis", it tells me that there is no enough space in the folder selected (even though there is), and won't let me choose to burn with Nero on the last screen in the popup that starts after clicking "Backup!"
has anyone else had a similar problem or would know why this is happening?

Being as Shrink is freeware and always will be, my thoughts are to Un-install shrink and run a cleaner like CrapCleaner (freeware) in Issues mode. Make a restart then download Shrink, make another restart and then re-adjust the settings to Shrink. Running a cleaner AND the restarts, are essential so don't skip them ok?
To make your short story a little longer, Shrink and other freeware apps are now no longer supported. You MAY need altenatives to Rip files etc. We can help with the software and guides if you need them.

Thanks for the advice. I'll give the system a good clean and see what happens.

CMC are CRAP media. Try Verbatims etc..

I really dont see a problem with this speed, although it's a little TOO slow for my likeing. 4X or 8X are often better.

Do as Onya posted, reset the dma's and get some verbatim blank media.
Also beware of burning slow. Keep it at 4x-8x. If you get verbatim, keep the burn at 8x.
Then double check your dvd shrink settings. I'm guessing that you are autoburning with Nero,so make sure your settings are like this:
Open up dvd shrink/edit/preferences. Click the File/IO tab and look under the burn setting. Make sure the box is ticked for Enable burning with nero and OK. This should stay at that setting.
Then insert backup disc, open disc, let it analyze and reauthor or entire disc-whichever you do. Then when you click Backup, double check those settings, especially Target Device.

For autoburning with nero: Click the V to the right of select backup target and scroll, and set it like mine with the squiggly red circle. Your drive/model should be listed as well as a check mark. Your's may be set to harddisc folder or ISO image.
Double check Select folder for temp files, make sure it's going to a hd that has the space available.
Double check the rest of settings, when you click ok,process starts and should stay that way.
