why is Shrink taking FOREVER

maybe I'm doing something wrong, cause I'm new at this. when i go to do a back up it jumps from 18 hrs to 4 hrs then back up and down. and seems to never finish. i walk away for a bit and come back and still tells me 2 hrs.. I thought this was supposed to be a fast process????
Maybe if i get a step by step lol...
If there was an easier way please tell me.. I have an internal dvd rom. and external thingy that writes. ok sorry for the improper terminologies i drew a blank. I have Nero, imgburn, Arcade, Cyberlink, NTI cd&dvd maker 7..... anyone with any info would be great. i need to back up some dvd's asap... thanks

i forgot to add what i'm doing..
first i open disk. then choose the proper drive then that's where i get lost. i start taking away everything that's not english and such.. now i duno what to do next do i Analysis.. or back up?? They both take a long time.

You can typically skip the FixVTS step and go straight to DVD Shrink. The slowness could be due to excessive compression, AEC controls used, Deep Analysis or multitasking...or it could be a DMA issue.

when you push back up, a screen pops up that has what speed and with what , in that section there's a box that might be checked for low priority burning (multitasking) try unchecking and see what happens. it worked for me.
