I see number of sites providing torrents of ps3 and ps2 games. What is the use of those torrents. I heard that PS3 has advanced means to avoid all these things. Is that correct if so what is the use of these torrents.

Ps2 and Ps3 torrents are downloads for disc ISOs. Now you have done the swap switch installation on ps3 then these will work but piracy is illegal. The only way to put a ps3 game onto a disc is have a bluray burner which are still few and far between.

I have not yet done the swap swtich thing on my ps3. I am very new to this. I just got my ps3 a week back and i never had any console till now. Can i copy games to the PS3 HDD and play from there.

No - there is no way to play backup PS3 games, swap switch only works for PS2 games.

The ISO's are on the torrent sites in case anyone ever does work out how to play PS3 backups.

Im pretty sure the swap switch works for ps3 games if the backup is on a bluray disc and it is swapped from an original ps3 game. I'm not sure on that because I dont have a bluray burner to test this

I'm pretty sure it's been tested and it doesn't work. Otherwise more people would have bought blu-ray burners by now.

yea it only works with ps2 games. You CAN NOT play backed up ps3 games yet. period.
