Dunno if you can do that, but I know that you could compress the last VOB file and leave the rest which I think would include the credits.
VOB file, you will need to burn using Nero or other program in DVD Video mode (For Nero 6 Ultra). Make sure you put all the vobs, IFO etc into a folder named VIDEO_TS, ignore the AUDIO_TS as that is not used.

since you are reauthoring anyways, why not free up a little more space an cut the credits out totally?
