XP SP2
When I try to backup a DVD Shrink loads and loads & freezes the computer and I have to push the power button to shut down & again to start up. I've uninstalled reinstalled a couple times and that didn't work. I'm just guessing that a recent MS update might have something to do with it. Is there a fix for this?
Is there another program that I can use to remove the warnings?

That leaves the hard drive. How large and how much free space?
How old is the PC?

You've already tried what I would have suggested first, a clean install of Shrink. Usually what causes a crash is overheating or some faulty software. Disconnect the power and take the cover off the PC to check for dust build up. That little plastic duct is just clipped in, in case you need to clean the fan area. Use canned air and don't blow directly at fragile board components. One way to test for overheating or other hardware failure is to run one of the overclocking utilities, like OCCT. If your system will run that for an hour, I doubt the problem is hardware. If dust and overheating aren't the problem, try moving the Shrink temp file to the internal hard drive. Sometimes using external hard drives can be a problem.
In the end if you think it's the software, use another transcoding program. All the big names have trials that run for a few weeks. Slysoft and InterVideo readily come to mind. Use DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip or use the DVDFab Platinum trial. You can use the free DVDFab HD Decrypter to rip and use DVDCopy5. AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 are a matched setup from Slysoft and easy to use.
Let us know what you find.

I accidentally fixed it!!!
Replaced my DVD burner with an external one because original kept ejecting blank discs and wouldn't work. I've had Nero 7 Ultra for over a year and have never been able to get some of the programs to work right and just put up with it because only used a couple of them anyways. Blah blah blah...
Anyways, uninstalled Nero7, had problems with the reinstall (fixed nothing) so did it again and custom installed. Fixed everything! The old DVD drive works again and so does Shrink. Can't explain it, but it was definitely Nero as being a persistent sort had reinstalled Shrink and tried to use the DVD drive many times.
Thanks everyone!

LOL. First time I've been called everyone. You're welcome though.
Nothing to do with your problem, but I've been running Nero 7 since it came out and it's been trouble free for me. As you suspected, you somehow got a corrupted installation. Strange it would effect Shrink, other than burning. Strange stuff happens though. Glad you got everything going. Hope you have good decryption software to go with the Shrink, Ripit4me or DVDFab HD Decrypter (both free) or AnyDVD.
Edit: Forgot to mention, if you haven't already, check the Dell site for firmware upgrades for your optical drives and the manufacturer website for any you added. Updated firmware sometimes prevents problems with the newer and faster DVD media.
