First off apologies if this problem has been asked and solutions have already been given, but I have searched through the forums and seems like all the responses to peoples errors only suggest other ways, rather than explaing why the person is getting the error in the first place. I am using a brand new HP Portable DVD burner along side a drive that reads dvds installed on the computer I am using. When I first started burning here I was only using the portable drive to open and backup disk without any problems. Then I started using both drives together opening the disk and creating two images at the same time using dvd shrink, still everything working fine. Now all of a sudden My portable dvd drive will open the disk, analyze it, but when I want to back it up, I am getting the error message Cannot read drive E; Copy protection error: sector encrypted.... The drive on my computer still works fine and lets me backup disk, and I can still burn the image on the portable drive, but when it comes to backing up, I get the same error everytime....Yes the disk are clean, and yes I am familiar with how to use ANY Dvd, DVDFAbDecrypter, Clone Dvd, and just about every other software. I just want to know what has caused my Portable DVD burner not to be able to back up a disk in DVD shrink, while the one on my computer still remains fine. Im thinking a software has caused this, or some setting, but I have tried just about everything. Please help if you can?
It's possible that the drive is no longer being recognized correctly by the software or the OS (who knows why?), to try and correct this, try and unplug the usb cable and reboot the pc, after the reboot, plug the dive back into a different usb port and let the OS recognize and reinstall it.
I personally recommend using the internal drive for the ripping process and let the external do the burning.
