I recently bought some component cables to hook up my ps3 to my HDtv (which supports all formats xcept HDMI). I set it to 1080i but everything on the screen, although clearer, is so small that I can't read anything! It's like when you change your PC resolution and everything shrinks.
Is this normal on PS3? Am I correctly setting it for HD?

Please help someone! Thanks!!

Since I'm at work, I'm going off memory, but I'm quite certain that under the settings in the XMB, there's a way to maximize/automate the optimal resolution for picture. There's also a way to do it by holding the power button for like 5 seconds when the unit is off. Maybe someone, who isn't at work, can confirm this.

Its small because that's how its supposed to look; if you have the settings on 480p then it will go bigger, but what's the point of having HD if you're not going to use it?

I have a question also....

My Vizio L32 only goes to 1080i. I know this may be a stupid question, but isnt it still at an HD output if I set the resolution to 720 on the PS3? Thinking about switching to that if it still looks the same. Just want to make sure

But on that other note from Mr_Pink. At first, I was thinking that you were gonna say that you can change the font and icon display without changing the resolution of the display from 1080i to 720 or 480. that would have been cool....

It looks fine on my Toshiba 1080p hooked up with HDMI. It's small, but I can read it fine.
