I am having problems with these two movies. Fantastic Four and Bug, I used shrink and IMGburn and creating 2 many coasters. I am using Verbatim +R disc and using Benq1620 burner. I get to about 63% or 3 % burn before getting errors
Thanks

Hi chewbkka
Update the firmware of the drive - the latest is b7w9.
Check and make sure all your drives are in DMA & not PIO mode - the log took like 30 mins so check it to be sure - guide
For Bug does have Sony's ARccOS on it - using the latest AnyDVD w/ Shrink? If these don't do the trick you might want to user the ripper in AnyDVD then open those files in Shrink. Fantastic 4 doesn't have anything that special on it.

A couple more suggestions - try cleaning out the drives lens with a dvd lens cleaner or blowing some canned air in the drive.
Try different media - Verbs are usually very good but maybe this is a bad batch (?). Is this a new spindle of discs by chance?

why are you running anydvd and imgburn at the same time? Going back to the old firmware won't help your problem btw. It is always best to have the latest firmware available. How much are you multi-tasking while you are trying to burn?

Once you got through using Shrink, did you turn off AnyDVD before using ImgBurn?

yes, since you already have anydvd, download the trial of clonedvd from the same site and give it a whirl.

Another option to try is use Shrink with AnyDVD, select output as ISO to the HD, and then turn off AnyDVD and record manually with ImgBurn. CloneDVD 2 is about as good a retail selection as any. I favor RB/CCE and burn with Nero Express. I use DVDFab HD Decrypter or RipIt4Me and rarely use AnyDVD.

You can use a canned air - just open the slot on the drive and blow it around a bit - or if you have a dvd lens cleaner like ones used for dvd players you can use that too. It's just a dvd with a small soft brush on it.
If it's starts failing again try that and different media to rule out the media.

If RipIt4Me got you going, more than likely it was just a minor problem with file structure or the AnyDVD was causing the interference and it wasn't on. As noted before, AnyDVD doesn't always play well with ImgBurn. If a compliance issue, the built in FixVTS takes care of some structural problems.
You need to go back to the latest firmware. That doesn't appear to have been the problem this time. The firmware updates are to address issues found with the drives and it's always a good idea to stay up to date. Sometimes it's for a function of the drive and sometimes it's how the drive sets write strategy for newer media. Whatever, the factory techs saw some need for the updates.

will let you know with the next batch of movies. The problem I have with Rip it you have to wait for shrink to come on then burne it while shrink goes into decrypter. Might give the latest firmware another shot with RIPit

Any DVD release you do is going to have to have the copy protection bypassed. Step one, decryption and sometimes process for DVD compliance. If putting a movie on a DVD5 like many of us do, you have to go through the transcoding (shrinking). Step 2, transcode. The job isn't finished til it's burned. Step 3, burn. RipIt4Me does the complete step 1 and opens the files for you in Shrink, which does step 2, and Shrink opens a supported burner (or you do manually) to complete the job, burn. That's the way of most backups unless you use a driver type decrypter such as AnyDVD. That one bypasses the copy protection while the transcoding software does it's job, and then the output is sent to the burner (some programs contain their own burner software and some don't). Sounds like you've become overly fond of AnyDVD. Okay, but sometimes it has its own problems in certain circumstances (interference with ImgBurn and DVDFab HD Decrypter). I'd advise learning to use the free DVDFab HD Decrypter because RI4M is no longer supported. So far as I know only Blade: House of Chthon can't be done with RI4M, but without updates any time a release can't be done, that's it; no hope for an update to solve the problem.
I was under the impression you had your Shrink set up to use ImgBurn. Once RipIt4Me opens the files with Shrink's quick analysis (compliance test) it's done. From that point Shrink is working on it's own and opens the supported burner you have selected. I use Nero, but I also have ImgBurn set up as a supported burner.

none of the suggestions have been followed except temporarily updating the firmware, and now it's like pulling teeth to get it updated again.

I do listen to you guys, you are the best and I do try everything you suggest but I am getting too many coasters. The dvd is store onto my HD until I get a good burn then I delete it or store it on my external HD. But believe me I spend many hours going back and forth with emails and your suggestions to get this right. sometime I am not savy as you but I am trying.
Thanks

you didn't try new media, you didn't try cleaning the lens, you didn't try deleting the movie from your HD, then starting from the beginning. I know you have the movie on your HD, but the way the files stored *could* possibly be the problem and no matter what you try... it will never work. How are supposed to help if you won't follow suggestions and at least give them a try?
