Hey smokey,

I've gone through the guide and did everything without any trouble. But, once i burned the new GT4 iso and tried it out. It wouldn't play at all. I just get the red screen of doom.

I was wondering if there's any other patch i was supposed to apply to the iso before burning it? I've read at a few other places about different types of patches you have to apply in order to get it working correctly. Is that the case with this gt4 guide?

I'm using the modbo chip if that's of any help.

Cheers.

Put your mind to it and your dreams will come true.

Hey devilry

The full guide is posted in this thread with pictures if you need it

What type of media did you burn it on and what speed. Perhaps thats just the problem?

It doesn't require any special patches that I know of. I haven't done this particular rebuild in quite awhile, so would have to read it over again.

Hey Smokey,

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly. I have tried burning it a second time. I use Taiyo Yuden discs at 4x speed. I followed the guide again to the T. Everything matches up perfectly to the guide, including file sizes and all that. But still no go.

I'm not sure what the problem could be.

Put your mind to it and your dreams will come true.

Maybe your better off too just get a Verbatim DL DVD+R disc and burn the Original ISO image seeing you have a modbo chip.

I am not sure if your PS2 laser is in good condition, what the problem could be, sorry.

I tried burning a verbatim DL of the original before trying this guide and it didn't work. But, i didn't use a patch or anything, was I supposed to?

Yes use Toxic dual layer patch first, then burn the DL disc at 2.4x always works for me.

As long as your laser is in good condition it should work fine.

Sorry to bump this guys, but I'm having some problems with rebuilding.
Using Swap Magic 3.6, IsoBuster, DVD Decrypter to rip original and burn the iso that iml2iso creates (4x speed).
Problem: Rebuilt Metal Gear Solid 2: Substance - screen stays black after I've selected Load program. Rebuilt God of War - after selecting Load Program the screen freezes and the disc speed constantly goes up/down until I turn my PS2 off. I've followed the guide exactly. Has anyone else had this problem?

There are specific tools and guides for MGS2: Substance and GOD of War

Did you follow those specific guides.

If yes, then perhaps it is the brand of media you are using, or your laser is not up too par.

Ah I see. Thank you. I did not follow those guides (but I did get GoW to work using Apache2 instead of iml2iso) - I'll look around for a guide for MGS2:S.
