I did a search all over the forums and couldn't find an answer so I thought I'd give this a try. I also posted this in Dela's thread but wanted to ask openly in case anyone had any server 2k and other file sharing apps experience. If this is considered spamming then please feel free to delete this post :)

Is anyone out there running, or has run, emule on a Win2k Server? if so what were your results because ever since I swapped my emule from an XP box to my server box it is slooooooow (average download at 5.4 and thats all files concurrently) on the downloads, but the upload speeds are fine (average of 10.xx). Both boxes are 2.4Ghz and 768 MB Ram. No large fragmentation on either and lots and lots of free space. My connection is a DSL connect. Also, I have changed the server from optimized for "background services" to optimized for "applications" and still no change. Oh, I used to average about 30 on my XP box. TIA for any help or suggestions.

yeah, I'm running on 2k - I'm surprised (neigh appalled!) that it's _slower_ than on Xtra-Pain. What to suggest.. It sounds like a misconfiguration of the available bandwidth in the emule program but I'd bet you've already quadruple checked that.. :) On a machine that fast optimization for background / apps shouldn't matter, certainly not for bandwidth..

I'm afraid I've nothing to suggest - I can just tell you it runs great for me, and I'd've steered away from XP too. :)

I find eMule fastest on WinXP Pro, I have had it on 98, ME, 2003 and server 2003!

Wow.. I loathe XP so much it drove me to learn Linux (now using SuSE 9.0 - good stuff!). I would love to know why it's faster on that OS.
