My Ps3 is about 45 days old and today a couple buddies and I get on to play, well after about 30 minutes the whole system just shuts off. Didnt go to standby or anything all power off, remotes everything! I had to turn the power switch on the back off and back on to get it on standby. Well it restarted and I thought oh well no big deal its never done that before! So were playin and about another 30 or so minutes goes by and it does it again. Is it just on overload and getting too hot or something is internally wrong with it and I should try and exchange it or send it in to sony?? JW if any of you have had this problem before or did I just get a janky A** system????....

Thanks....

Never heard of anything like this, PS3 doesn't tend to have heat issues. I'd suggest using your warranty and getting a replacement.

make sure its well ventilated aswell, don't shove it in a cabinet or with other appliances that expel heat, on top of a dvd player etc, could help.

check the ventalation and if it still continues, check the voltage coming out the wall socket if posibile... If all fails return it or exchange...

Its not an overheating issue, it would have sent him back to the xmb if it overheated during gameplay. Unless one of the fans went bad and it heated up too fast for the failsafes to kick in. Id say get a replacement as it likely isnt an issue that will go away or is easily fixable.

I can't see it being a overheating problem because this morning I tried again and it lasted for a total of about 5 minutes before it shut off. I called Sony and he wanted me to unconnect the wires and plug it back in, hold the power button for 3 seconds and in hopes to restart the system. Upon doing that it just shut off and will not turn back on so I am sending it back to Sony for an exchange. I am completly unknowing of what actually happened to the system and would love to know.
