Just wondering does the PS3 upscale ordinary dvd's played on it through a HDMI cable to a 1080p lcd? If so, do you have to carry out any special configurations through the settings?
A firmware upgrade affords the opportunity for the PS3 to upscale regular DVDs. It doesn't matter if you connect the PS3 to the TV with an HDMI cable or not, but it does help. And no, you do not need any special configurations.
Latest AnyDVD to rip > VOBB to blank the unwanted on a DVD > Shrink to compress > ImgBurn to burn = Never starting a thread asking how to backup a movie

I agree, it seems to look more crisp and just all around better High Definition when you use HDMI opposed to Component cables.
