dvd shrink will not start due to vista updates?

I have been successfully using dvd shrink with windows vista for a few months now. Just last week, it suddenly stopped working. I can't even get it to load, it just instantly crashes. The only thing I can think of that changed is that I ran the windows updates recently. Has anyone else had this problem, and possibly have a solution?

your problem is not from windows updates uninstall shrink and reinstall the program

I did try the uninstall/reinstall, and even the installer crashed? Do I need to clean out some entries from the registry possibly?

try a windows restore to the time that the program was working
