Hi just bought my son ps3 60gig for xmas when testing for xmas day its wanting me to update to 1.90 obviously im going to do this so he can play is games on xmas day but in reality is this a smart move??? Im thinking on the lines of the psp and every1 trying to get back to 1.5 hope this makes sense

Testing it for Christmas Day - That old classic, you just couldn't wait!

You will need to update it otherwise you are unable to play some games or access the Playstation Network.

At the moment the guys doing the hack havnt been able to get past 1.55,so if your console is past this you may not be able to run homebrew in the future.
But then no one knows what the future may hold.
Upgrading the firmware just lets you use features which sony locked on purpose,their upgrades unlock these features and stop new hacks from happening.
