i am sure there was reason! and don't ask a mod cuzz they won't tell you, you might try sending her or him a e-mail or go to their home pag and ask there, we are not to wonder why we are just to do or die, i am sure if you were to search some of the post's that gerry1 put out and you might have some information with that

there is no going to gerry's page or messaging him or any other way to get in touch with him through AD. once a member is banned, all that stops.
he never gave out his email, he never had an interest in messengers. he never created any profile save the one on this site. unless he chooses to come back under a new name, there's no real way for most of his friends here to get in touch with him.
i changed my email to an invalid one just a few hours after gerry was banned. my change in state should take effect soon.

and sorry fellas, but as you know, this is not a democracy and no amount of bitching will ever change that.
basically, you have three options: buy the site and change the ambience yourself, deal with it, or leave.
i'm piss broke to begin with and after this, my patience has run out.
time to migrate onto greener pastures...forums where people can have a little fun with each other, aren't so easily offended, and yet still manage to act like adults...
...in other words, forums that have nothing to do with video games in any way, shape, or form.
back when the site was more about dvd ripping and computer building, people were different. sure, there were spammers and assholes and kids like doggy_bot, but overall the place felt kinder and more relaxed. but most of the originally devoted members have moved on, and the forum that was the baby brainchild of dRD and Ketola and all the others has had to evolve into a stricter, more authoritarian environment in order to keep up with the influx of younger, less experienced minds.
pissed as i am about the situation (major sign i have taken this place too seriously), i hold no bad blood against anyone here. it's just time to move on.
hope you all enjoyed my last digression--it was the last of my incoherent babble meant to explain my actions here.

billybob, no offense, but Gerry just wouldn't drop it - him getting the boot was gunna happen soon anyway IMHO.

A General Statement:
Why does everyone piss and moan about the state of AfterDawn, how all it's best members are leaving etc, if when one leaves or is banned you jump on the bandwagon and "f- off" too? How does that help the situation? It doesn't, it just makes aD an even worse place to be at... Downward spiral >.>

I am wondering the same thing about gerry1, I almost posted this exact question when I saw went to reply to his "I am back" thread only to find out he had been banned. The only reason I didn't create such a thread was that a cloud of fear drop over me.
I too would like an answer, but if thats not going to happen then I dunno what to say.
@Aus,
Hopefully this isn't a "perm" vacation. I have taken breaks from aD too.
I simply just set an email filter that deletes anything coming from Afterdawn, which I just as simply later remove when I want to hear from the forum again.

Sometimes just living is an act of courage. (Gerry and Ireland know
only too well what I am talking about.) They experience more
emotional and physical pain in a day than most people do in a life.
Their dignity is at the end of a very raw nerve.
May those of you who do not understand this never come to understand

Why does it see so many members have been throwing piss fits over the damn internet? This is a tech forum, but it honestly seems some people rely on aD as their only way to socialize with other people...which is a bit sad. Yeah we all have friends here, but why is there so much bitching and crying? If you don't like the atmosphere or the rules, pm those you are friends with, give them your msn addy and let it be. How hard is it to not log on? Why make threads about how you want your account deactivated?? If you want it deactivated pm a person who can make it happen! Is it you are looking for sympathy or validate your role on the site? Jeez
This was meant to be general, not based at any particular member.

Auslander, i dont blame you. This sites gone downhill, but if you got my pm i hope i can keep it touch with you, because you were one of the people around when i started, who stayed true and stayed yourself.
Guess this is goodbye, as no doubt ill be banned soon. Hey, back in the war, there used to be a firing squad of say....5 or 6 people, who would shoot the deserters. 2 of the shooters would have a gun that had a blank in it so they always had the peace of mind that it could NOT have been them who shot the person. Its sort of similar to the mods here, nobody ever knows who banned someone, only that it was the "moderating team", like it was the "firing squad".
The people i have actually enjoyed spending time with at aD.

How has it come to this? So many people leaving because of a managerial decision. Ireland's still here-an addict at that. Many good people have left and more threatening. They'll close this thread just like the others, and that's troubling, but understandable. Hell I don't know how many of my buddies will be left when the smoke clears. I've decided to stick it out for a while.
Aus I really hate to see you wanting a break mainly because I see a lot of my young self in you, some 40 years ago. Come back and visit when you see fit.
Billybob I feel your anger but let it go. Nothing good will come of it. And gerry would be the first one to say that.

I can tell you exactly why he was banned but after i did i would be banned to, being the powers that be in here don't like my straight in you're face attitude, so PM me and we can talk about it.
The SV probably needs to go and make it a tech only forum since basically we all are posting here AT OUR OWN RISK and can be banned for anything , for any reason or no reason at all. this says it all in the rules here vvvvv
Administrative actions
Even if something isn't specifically mentioned in the rules, it doesn't mean that it would be permitted. It is up to the moderators and administrators to determine what is appropriate and what is not.
