I used DVD Decrypter to rip disc 1 of Farscape season 1. It took aprox 7 gig of hard drive space. When selecting the ripped file on DVD Shrink it showed that the file did not need to be compressed showing menus, main movie, extras and unreferenced material totaling 4.4 mg. the line at the top is entirely in green. However when I go to select the VIDEO_TS file in Nero version 5.5.10.45 is shows 47 files totaling the orig 7 gig copied (and backed up using DVD Shrink). There is a VTS_01_0.BUP, VTS_01_0.IFO, VTS_01_0.VOB, VTS_01_01.VOB then it follows with the same series of files of VTS_02_01, VTS_03_01 etc thru to 11. This is a 2 episode disc with each episode running aprox 50 min. I am using 4.7 gig 120 min DVD+R discs. I don't really care about having the extras on the burn copy if they need to be dumped. Yes, I'm new to this. I have decrypted a number of discs without a problem but have only burned 1 so far (successfully burned I may add) How do I proceed? How do I know which files to choose to get the right video and audio? I appreciate any help provided.

DVD Shrink is set for automatic but because its showing that the files don't need to be compressed it apparantly isn't doing any compressing

Greyghost, So after you click backup in shrink, and go to saved files location to load in Nero, its still saying over 7 gig? Or are you loading the files from the DVD Decrypter saved location. They have to come from shrinks backup saved file. Could this be whats happening? I would try only using shrink and see what happens. Jerry

I ran into the same problem trying to use Shrink and Decrypter at the same time. I seem to remember someone saying it was faster somehow but I don't see how that could be because you have to do both operations. (usually). Why not let Shrink do both? The thing I like about Decrypter is the cool sound it makes when its finished ;)

Thats what I was trying to get to. I don't see any reason to use both. If shrink can do the job, why use decrypter too. We think alike Frank. I read somewhere on here about doing episodes, but since I never thought about doing any, I didn't read it close enough. Its on this forum somewhere. Jerry

I had the very same thing happen to me while using DVD Decryptor, DVD Shrink and Nero together. It rarely happens, but when it does, it can seem very confusing. DVD Shrink is identifying only one PGC in some various episodic dvds. Call it a glitch? but it happens from time to time. When you "Back Up" the so called None Compressed version, (You are only looking at 1 PGC file that DVD Shrink is look at!!) it begins to rip the full contents of the VIDEO_TS made by decryptor. When you use DVD Decryptor, you must be using the "File Mode", DON'T!! Use the "IFO Mode" instead, highlight the PGC File you want, this will insure that only the PGC or 50 minute episode you choose will rip and only it, do this procedure for all following PGC files to other VIDEO_TS folders. Then use DVD Shrink to open the Info VTS_01 or whatever it might be called, and this will solve your problems.
Normally, I can't understand why you would use decryptor in conjunction with DVD Shrink? when DVD Shrink v3.5beta will do all you need?? I have a 57" HDTV Hitachi, and to get the best Video Quality out of an oversized movie, such as Xmen 2, I would use decryptor to rip the full contents, then use Info Edit to keep the main menus and movie only...Whewww, THEN use DVD Shrink to compress it to fit a 4.7 DVD-R at low compression levels like 2 or 3 at most. This method helped me avoid higher compression levels like 6-8, and I got to keep the Main Menu. But DVD Shrink v3.5 beta resolves this long tideous procedure! and if you have a Regualar TV where your sizes are from 19"-37", you would hardly noticed the Video Quality loss at compression levels 6 and 7 anyway?! on a CRT.
You should try using Image Tool by Coujo! instead of Nero!, have Nero version 5.9.9 loaded on your PC. You will experience less hassels. I hope this was helpful.

Using just the DVD Shrink did solve the problem. I wasn't aware that Shrink also did the decrypting and that's why I was using both. Sure appreciate the help! And I gotta say - the copies look & sound GREAT. Thanks again. I'm sure I'll have more questions as I progress along this road.
