I downloaded the PS3 Theme Tool.. I understand how to use it, but now I need some Icons to use to create themes... Im pretty sure since that has now been released, it will just a matter of time before a ton load of themes are created ,like for the psp..
Since i last replied.. I have found 4 themes..

Here is the tool, but you have to know how to use DOS CMD. Do not try running it from windows GUI, Open the CMD prompt, navigate to the folder you extracted the files to. The Sample is in this pack to learn how to use it. Basically you would create your icons and ?. xml file and then run this compiler that will create the p3t file needed to install the Theme on the PS3. Tool

This is awesome that we can have custom themes now. Especially that there is a tool for people to make them.

Any way that you could post a tutorial for dummies? I have no experience in this stuff and could use a little push in the right direction.

The name of it is built into the program before the theme is compiled so it retains the programmers name, and what they chose it to b named to ppl cant take credit for other ppls work.

No its not built in the program. Its in the xml file.. Right click on the sample.xml and open with notepad. You can edit and change the author and other info to meet your needs. Look at the header of the xml and you will see "info", make sure when you customize your own icons and backgrounds you change that info, if you dont then if you share it, someone else will get the credit for your work. I actually thought the whole custom themes was crap until I realized how easy Sony made it to apply your own.. I use Photo Shop Pro to edit and customize the Icons given in the Compiler save each Icon overwritting the last. Make sure when you edit the icons, replace them with the exact same size 128x128 on most.Otherwise the PS3 will not see it. Hell I replaced a couple icons with picture of myself just for the hell of it and it worked..

Yeah no prob.. Sorry I was up really really late and hadnt slept in 24 hours, so I was dosing on and off as I was making these... Anyway Here is some previews of th previous themes I made. Also here is instruction on how to compile your own themes..
This has been asked many times and I have found the easiest, plain English version possible.
1. Download the file and unzip it to your desktop.
2. Open p3tcompiler_v101 >sample > 01 > and in there should be a file called sample.xml.
3. Right click that file, select "Open With...", then choose "Other Program". This will open a tab with a bunch of programs, but select browse for program.
4. In the file selector, go into p3tcompiler_v101 and inside there select the p3tcompiler.exe.
5. Double click sample.xml and it will run the cmd compiling the p3t. The p3t should be somewhere in sample>01>.
6. On a thumb drive, make a directory PS3>THEME> and put your P3t here and go to your PS3.
If you want to make your own theme, just edited the different .PNGs that correspond with the correct icon.
Preview for: Evergreen

War Blood

Sorry for the cam shots but I really havent had time to make some previews..

Nice job on the themes! I'm working on some right now! I'm making one that's going to be the Simpsons Theme! I'll post Pics as soon as I can!
OK, I've run into some problems! It seems like the program was working in Command Prompt, but it eventually said FAILED, and Press [ENTER] key... This was done on the Computer at work, so I will wait and see what it does on the Computer at home in about 3 1/2 hours! I'll keep you all posted!
Though, the one thing I can tell you, is that the icons for the Simpsons theme look nice!

Hey I made an awesome theme. If you want it, download it here:
Cool Theme
Sorry theres no pics. I dont have a screen capture or anything but I'll try to describe it. The friends section has smiley faces instead of boring boxes and squares, and the controller and camera are replaced with an actual camera and PS3 controller. The video section is replaced with a stage with curtains. Hope you enjoy it!
