Problems with DVD Shrink and Recording with Nero

I bought Nero because the setting at the end of DVD Shrink indicates that it can go directly to Nero to burn. (Up until know, I have used DVD Shrink and then copied each new DVD with Copy to DVD. This meant that when DVD Shrink finished, I had to return to make 3 copies with Copy to DVD)
I hoped that since DVD Shrink and Nero seemed to have a connection, that my DVD Shrink would automatically go to Nero.
I did check the spot in DVD Shrink that says burn with Nero but that did not do it.
What settings do I need to change to get my computer to go directly from DVD Shrink and burn the disks with Nero?

Help
Which guide should I use. This is a great page with all kinds of guides. I really like it but I don't see anything that mentions Shrink and Nero. Which title should I use?

Since you bought Nero, why don't you use Nero Recode instead of DVD Shrink? They are both written by the same author with the major difference being that DVD Shrink hasn't been updated/upgraded in ages while Nero Recode is up to date and still being improved from time to time . .
The only reason that you would ever need Shrink is if you don't have a program such as AnyDVD, DVD43 or RipIt4Me . . .

Let me give that I try. Old habits are hard to break and I have had tons of success with RipIt4Me and Shrink and then Copy to DVD. But I know that RipIt is no longer updated do to court action and Shrink has not really been updated in a while.
Right now, I find Nero a little intimiditating. Maybe because I am new to it and I do not fully understand what it can do or what part of the program to use as it is a very comprehensive program. Every time I have tried to copy with it, I have got an error message.
I will try your suggestion and let you know how it works. Thanks

you might try a clean reinstall of dvd shrink to see if that helps

Good idea. I just spent a couple of weeks in North Carolina and set my son in laws machine to copy and burn. Everything was a new install and it jumped right from DVD Shrink to Nero with no problem. I think I will try that solution first.

If you wish to autoBurn with Dvd Shrink & Nero, Dvd Shrink has to be installed last so that it picks Nero up, as previously posted.

The order is unimportant. Shrink is programmed to look for the Nero burning rom at a specific location, not pick it up from a random location.
@dmerrick
What version of Nero did you buy?

Personally, I think that Nero Recode2 along with AnyDVD does a darn good job . . .

You're right. I think it's about the same as using AnyDVD with Shrink. Of course the free DVDFab HD Decrypter from DVDIdle also works good for decryption.
Not all versions of Nero include Recode. So, for those it's easier to use the free Shrink than upgrade to a more expensive version of Nero.
Except for Nero 8, it appears to be mostly a matter of preference between choosing Recode and Shrink. Currently Shrink won't auto burn with the Nero 8 burning rom.

I did deleter Shrink and do a new download. I will be getting my supply of DVD's on Wednesday and I will let you know how that works and if it made a difference.
Thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions.
I know that there is a setting on Shrink, to allow you to change the default sound when it is finished. I don't remember where it is so I can change it. Most of these programs have a ping or something when you end. With 3 grandchildren around you are never going to hear that, so I usually change to a .wav sound that the kids hear and I recognize as the end of the RipIt4Me and Shrink.
Can someone remind me of where that setting is on shrink?

Make sure you have it updated all the way.
I have some Dvd Shrink sounds & Toolbars I picked up along the way, but I don't see anyway to attach them, so that you could download them.
Edited with help from PacMan777. Thank you it is appreciated.

As I could find no way of editing my above post, I have to reply here. Dvd Shrink / Backup / Options, is where you can change the sound. I have mine saved in Program Files / Dvd Shrink / Sounds & that is the Folder I browse to from Options.

That's why I love After Dawn. There are always people with great suggestions. Thanks Soup1 for your info on the sound. Done and taken care of.
Tomorrow, I will get my new batch of DVD's and try burning using everyone's suggestions.
I did uninstall and reinstall Shrink and we will see if that lets it find Nero. I will keep everyone posted. Thanks to all.

To burn with Nero is the default setting when installing Shrink. In Backup selecting burn with Nero and your burner drive is all that's needed to have it work properly. The only need to reinstall the programs would be if the interface no longer recognized the burner. Looks like you could use a little time reviewing Shrink operation.
