Just wanted to have a chin wag about the situation with us ps3's in the UK.
I purchused one from a guy for £280 about 3 month ago and set about finding a way and seein if you need converters for electricity etc etc and my conclusion was as follows:

I have not needed an electricity step down converter or any other except one off ebay that was a NTSC to PAL converter for the PS2 the ps2 one works fine converting the ntsc to pal to work on european tvs.

The inside of the ps3 well the parts that control the flow of electricity and would blow up if attached wrong are exactly the same as the european standard ps3.
Where the origin of converters came from i am not too sure but its to do with what voltage the ps3 can take not what your country gives you. As far as i am aware the plug fuses are the same voltage as the UK sold PS3 and i have had no problems.

So all you need is:
NTSC to PAL converter. (roughly £5 on ebay)
Scart lead which has the audio and av plugs on one end and scart on the other.
