The speed is for how fast the Drive will read the games. If you put it at 12x, the laser for the drive will die off a lot quicker. I put mine at 5x and the backups were burned at 2.4x and they all play just fine.

I had some discs that would not work unless they were burned at 1x (strange i know), although they take the same length of time to burn(around about 40 mins) the ones burnt at 1x all worked for me.
They were verbs too.

I selected 1X in ImgBurn but it ended up burning the disc at 2.4X. While it was burning the window showed a write speed of 1X and a write rate of 2.4X. The resulting disc had the same problem. The discs are either readable/playable once or twice and then unreadable. Sometimes if I keep trying, the discs will go through all the menus and then become unreadable right before the game loads. I've tried everything (varying speed, changing firmware etc.). I'm using supposedly the best media Verbatim. Could it be my burner? It's a Sony DRU-810A with the latest firmware. Any ideas?

Yeah it could well be your burner i was using an LG DL burner and some disks were working and some wasnt so my bro told me to get a Pioneer 112d 18x Dl Dvdrw +/- Oem cost £26.99 from http://[url=http://www.komputerkrazy.com][/url] ever since i got it never had a problem so if i do have 1 know its not the burner ;)

Hey, my 360 DVD drive is the same as yours - TS-H943, so here's what I did and it worked for me (read my posts above).

(1) Download Xbins program as described in this tutorial (page 14): http://www.360mods.net/Downloads/details/id=61.html

(2) Start Xbins and when fully connected, download the following file:
/XBOX 360/firmware/hacked firmware/Toshiba-Samsung TS-H943/_old/iXtreme1.2(fast_read).rar

(3) While in Xbins also download this file:
/XBOX 360/firmware/firmware tools/iPrep 101/iPrep_101-006.rar

(4) Unpack these files and first install iPrep 101

(5) Plug a Jump Stick into PC using USB port. (Make sure to back up whatever is on it.) Start iPrep 101 and in the Samsung iXtreme box select the following firmware bin from unpacked file in (2):
fw\ixtrem12.bin

(6) Set up the SATA info for your card (I also checked Patch MTKFlash) and make it to prepare your Jump Stick to be bootable, click Prepare Destination.

(7) When done, turn off PC. Remove power cable and unplug all your HDDs and DVD/CD drives from PC. Make sure to connect 360 DVD drive to PC using SATA cable. Also plug the video cable into 360. Do not turn on 360. Keep Jump Stick in PC.

(8) Boot up PC. It should boot into DOS from your Jump Stick (if not, confidure in BIOS to boot from USB device)

(9) Acknowledge some warning by pressing Y and ENTER. Then type dSam 1234567 123456 (numbers stand for your xbox serial #). Hit Enter. You will see a message to turn on your 360. Here's a tricky part. YOU HAVE TO TURN ON YOUR 360 ALMOST AT THE SAME TIME AS YOU HIT ENTER. If you do it right, you should see 1. XTREME Pri Master. If it says no drive, then turn off 360, wait 15 sec, and repeat this step again. If it totally persists, then reboot PC also.

(10) If you see 1. XTREME Pri Master, DO NOT HIT 1 immediately. Turn off your 360 and wait 15 sec. Then again you have to hit 360 power button almost simultaneously with hitting 1 on the keyboard. If everything goes in sync you should see your PC reading your firmware. If PC hangs up, then reboot, or press Ctrl+C to stop and try steps 9-10 again.

(11) Do not proceed until step 10 is completed. In the end you should see your DVD ID number, that is a long number of different digits and letters. Write it down! At this point turn off both PC and 360. Then go to some other computer and check the Jump Stick. Go to the following folder:
BACKUPS\<SERIAL1>\<SERIAL2>\
and open the following file in some sort of HEX editor: SAM-OFW.bin. Make sure it's not empty symbols. DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING IN THAT FILE. It's your original firmware. Back it up and keep it in a safe place.

(12) Plug your Jump Stick back into PC. At this point it should have been more than 15 seconds since you powered down your 360. Power on PC and boot into DOS again. When done, type fSam 1234567 123456, again numbers stand for your 360 serial #. You should see the prompt to turn on 360. At this step turn it on the same way as I described in step 9.

(13) If you see 1. XTREME Pri Master, turn off 360, wait for 15 seconds and then turn it on at the same time as you you hit 1 on the keyboard. See step 10. If PC hangs up, repeat steps 12-13 again.

(14) If everything goes good, the flashing should start. It will go in 4 banks. You should see a success message at the end of the flash. If so, turn off PC and 360. Unplug the SATA cable between PC and 360. Plug back all the cables in PC and plug back original SATA cable into 360.

(15) Now it's time to try your 360 with your previously burned games. It'd be also nice if some of your friends could have given you their copied game that works for them. This way you will know if the problem is in your DVD burner, firmware, or 360 DVD drive.


Provided you still have coasters, make sure you burn them right. When you have an ISO file for the game:

(1) Open it up in XDVDMulleter (you can download it from Xbins as well). Select View ISO details, Next, then Load From file should be selected, provide ISO file that you'd want to burn, click Next, then make sure that ISO Region is set right, also that ISO type is XBOX 360 ISO and it is Xtreme Patched. Then check that XTreme compatibility is all checked on.

(2) Hit make .dvd file button and make one in the same folder as this .iso file.

(3) close XDVDMulleter. Put DVD+R DL 8.5 GB blank disc into your DVD burner drive. Suggested brand is Verbatim. I use those as well. Then double-click .dvd file that you just created. (I'm assuming that ImgBurn is installed on the system. If not, download it from here: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/cdr_so...ols/imgburn.cfm )

(4) It should set up everything for burning. Click big Write button to begin. It should commence without any warning messages. At this point it is advisable not to touch your PC. Make sure that it's not running any tasks that might take away CPU time.

(5) Wait for about 40-50 minutes and when done burning, you can now try the disc in your newly patched 360. All done!
