I hang out on the Wii side of afterdawn and this was posted. I know you guys can't play backups but in this post it mentions playing PS3 backups... Just thought I'd share with y'all.

Well, it's not a new modchip, but the functionality of the Infectus multi-console modchip on the Nintendo Wii is more then a novelty now as in a few days it will support the D2C DVD-ROM controller present in 99% of all new Nintendo Wii consoles. Not only will it work with the D2C chip it's said to only use 13 wires which is far less then the other D2C modchip on the market. Possibly the reduction of wires could justify the price of the chip. More information will be posted when it becomes available.

The Infectus chip is known for it's major diversity as you can use it as a PS2 modchip, XBOX 360 Drive Chip and XBOX360/WII/PS3 NAND flash/reader writer. So not only can you use it as a normal modchip on these consoles, but you can also downgrade your XBOX 360 and PS3 consoles by using dumps of your own firmware.

This is a pretty cool thing, it's half safe to upgrade at will know because you can downgrade with this chip from my understanding. So if playing backps is found in the future for lower firmwares... then this'd be great to have...
