lately i have been getting an error message when trying to download a movie to my computer using shrink it gets to about 4% then freezes up and after a while an error message pops up saying the semaphore timeout period has expired what the heck is that and how can i fix it please someone help

Try using DVDFab(free) to rip the video files to your hard drive with (try main movie only, create a file folder or ISO image), then use shrink to open the video files with (use Open Files tab for a video file folder or goto File open disk image for ISO files), use shrink for transcoding and using Nero or DVD decrypter to burn with.
