Hey guys, I'm sure there's been a million posts about this topic so feel free to re-direct it to the proper place. My problem is that DVD shrink is taking a REALLY long time to finish my back-ups lately and I dont know why. Shrink used to take about 2 hours to complete a movie and now its taking like 6-8 hours to finish ONE movie. The timer on it still says about 2 hours but it takes so much longer. When I'm running Shrink, I try my best not to run anything else so another program is definatly not the problem. Please help.

Here's a quick check and hopefully a quick and easy fix. It's possible that your drives might have reverted to the much slower PIO mode (reading a badly scratched disk or a possible problem with your drive may of caused this).

Change the drive/s mode to DMA if they've reverted to PIO, here are some guides if needed.

Now there's a sensible start to the solution, so ten out of ten so far phillyb. It just maybe that your DMA has been changed through an error when processing.

Thanks for the suggestions guys but I just checked the drives and they're all on DMA and not PIO. Is there anything else I could do to speed up this process.

Yes, there is (if your using XP). Open up your Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del) and select the processes tab. Then, scroll to DVD SHRINK 3.2.EXE. Right click it. select set priority. select HIGH. close the task manager. let dvd shrink run, do not open any applictaions before it is done, or they will produce bad results.
