Yes, I did search.
I posted this here becuase the Xbox section threads were mostly hacking related.
I have searched xbox-scene as well. :(

I use shrink dvd and nerov6 to burn.

My Standalone phillips dvd player plays fine.
The Phillips player will play either UDF or Video with no issue's.

With the force compatability check(Nero v6 UDF) My Xbox will not play. Well, it plays 2 out of three times. If it plays the video is pixulated and sketchy at best. I have tried different Media and noticed no improvement.

Any suggestions?

I have a similar problem. I also use shrink dvd and nero6 to burn. I encoded Rocky with Shrink DVD and followed directions from :http://www.chrismccann.co.uk/user_guides.htm to use Shrink DVD 3.0 Beta. I then used directions from the same web site to burn to DVD using NERO. This method did not work, so I tried using another method. http://www.afterdawn.com/articles/archive/burning_dvd_with_nero.cfm

Again, without success. I have an XBOX it will not play in as well as a AIWA Stand Alone DVD-Player. It says unrecognizable disk each time. Any suggestions?

By the way, I am using MEMOREX DVD+RW with a LG 4040N DVD+RW Drive. Any help would be appreciated...tired of not having luck!!!_

Oh yeah, one other note, I just put the DVD in my PC that I wrote it with, and it plays...just not on the stand alones.

Consoles are picky about disk use. i ran a princo and a bulkpaq in an Xbox. both played but were very loud, use Ritek now and are fine

If they did not want films copied they would not make it so easy!!!

Only use quality media like Ritek G03 or G04.

Check out my guides for help or info.

Ok, the media matters, so here's another scenario. My buddy had MEMOREX and burned Bad Boys II and T3. The worked fine. I put them in my PC and made a direct copy of the copy. I used all specs I described in my earlier post; however, it (MEMOREX) will play in my DVD Player. The only thing different is I'm using a DVD+RW right now to test before wasting DVD+R. Should that make a difference?

One more thing, the media you refer to...I am new to this, how can I tell if it is G? or whatever? Got a link for the media?

http://www.dvd-and-media.com/dvdr%20media.htm on of the best for Ritek media

A copy of a copy can be a funny thing, you will always lose a bit of data in a copy, more so if you are copying from a not so good disk. PC's are more able to "add" missing data as they go along when reading disks while an xbox may just fall down on the missing data.

Do not use Shrink to copy a copy just Nero

If they did not want films copied they would not make it so easy!!!

Good news...I fixed my problem, like I said, I was using MEMOREX DVD+RW and I decided forget it, let me use a MEMOREX DVD+R. Used it with Nero, and BINGO!!!

Hope this helps others!!!

I also have the Thomson(worst of the three-Least Reliable for reading different media)

Samsung = Best (Reads more brands of media)
Phillips = Better than Thomson

I found out that FUJI DVD-R work well/great... With a Thomson drive. With either DVD's movies or Games.

With FUJI you won't have any error and stuff with these picky drive.

From what I understand, FUJI uses the Ritek Dye.
That's why they are reliable.

Try DVD+R or DVD+RW

I assume you have tried a couple of different brands.

Some brands are better than others.

There are plenty of FAQ's on this site that explain the difference.

Try +RW worked on my bro's samsung drive;)

here is a place to get media much cheaper than bestbuy etc.

Yes Fuji does uses the same dye as Ritek..FUji 2x are twice the price and twice as slow as Ritek G04's just think of that.

I have an XBox with a Thompson drive, and I can't play either DVD-R or DVD+R vids. I'm very new at ripping, and I'm really not sure what I'm doing. Stealth99 or anyone, could you e-mail me and tell me exactly what steps you took to burn your games/movies? Thank you! scanterberry@cinci.rr.com

My xbox is reading the dvd-r perfectly when I use Nero 6 to burn. The picture is absolutely fine. The audio always sounds like donald duck. I presume I am encoding the audio wrong. Anyone?

Contrary to what anyone says, samsung sdg-605 WILL NOT read dvd+r
(dvd+rw dvd-r are fine however)
I have modded 5 xbox's to date, 3 of which (including mine) had samsung drives, none read dvd+r no matter what brand
personally fo rthe other drives I would use rw media (ritek or memorex seems to work real well)
