I'm just starting to convert my VHS and 8mm tapes over to DVD. I have successfully taken 15 minutes of tape and burned on to DVD with good results. So here's my issue:
If I'm over the 2 hour limit or 4.7GB limit of a DVD I want to use DVD Shrink to shrink the file down to fit (I currently use Shrink to backup up my DVDs and have had no issues).
I'm using Nero 6.6.0.18, NeroVision Express and I create an image or *.nrg file. Then I try to use Shrink to open this file and I get the error message that says it can open this image (I am selecting under FILE..Open Disc Image).
So now I'm at a loss as to how to proceed as Shrink won't open this image. I have read that it can open Nero nrg files so what is going on? Any help or guidance appreciated.
Simple, shrink won't recognize .nrg image files, but it will recognize .iso image file formats. Nero does give you the option to create either, so using the Image recoder function and you click burn, a window will pop up, at the bottom you have a dropdown menu that will present you with the two option, choose .iso image.
Shrink will now be able to open the file for processing.
Thanks for the reply. I can't find that option in NeroVision Express. I do select Image Recorder and when I hit the BURN button it goes immediately into burning and no window ever pops up. There's no option to change to .iso image format.
Using nerovision and choosing image recorder, the only choice you have for saving the files is as a nero image file, so you'll need to convert the file to an ISO image, you can use nero express to do this.
I just ran nero express and attempted to create a .iso image file, here's a screen shot of my desktop while doing so.
Make sure you click on image recorder, add your files, click burn. When you click burn, the window shown should pop up, give it a name and choose ISO image files from the dropdown.
I'm not offered the .iso option in my version of Nero (full 6.6.0.18). The only option in Express is the .nrg. This is strange as I do see it on your screen shot.
