I hated spit screen.My friends & i had to put together 2 or 3 TV's(PS2) because spit screen takes alway from have better viewing.

i dont get ur point. by this u are assuming everyone owns multiple PS3s to player multiplayer with theres friends.

I cannot believe this when I heard it. Listen guys, I'm a huge PS3 fanboy and I waited so long for this game to come out. How does a game like UT not have split screen. I can even understand not having online co-op (which i've been dying for PS3 to have..army of two?) but not even split screen?! I am honestly debating right now weather to get a 360 just for some fun games I can play with my friends.
I appologize for the whining but you don't realize how upset I was, when I found out that the last anticipated game of the year doesn't even have a standard multiplayer function.

yeah big let down but so was call of dty 4.. i guess this games are just made for 1 player online. maybe sony just tries to take it easy on their servers because is free.. who knows.. game still will be great but with the amount of shooters out there i don;t think itll be picking it up anyways.. COD4 is simply amazing and Haze looks good to

to answer your question caliph there is no multiplayer at all. big letdown. my main beef is that it was actually advertised as have split screen. way to go epic.

Obviously you are mistaken. DO NOT POST UNLESS YOU HAVE FACT. Unreal Tournament games are pre-dominantly online. UT3 is no exception. IT DOES HAVE ONLINE PLAY! Game types include DM, TDM, CTF, Duel, Warfare, and Conquest.
Once again, do the research before you post. This is ridiculous that you would post this. Please close this thread.

alex, are you a moron or are you joking? i never said it wasn't online, i said there was no SPLITSCREEN MULTIPLAYER. pleaseeeeeee read.

No i was giving you my opinion thats all.Not everyone want spit screen & im willing to bet majority of the game you will spend online as a single player not you & a friend playing spit screen.

O, totally understandable. And a majority of the game will be as you say. But...not having that option is going to significantly hurt they're numbers. I know that I was going to buy the game because I don't have any FSP like that, and this was going to be the one because they promised it. Now that it is no longer there and they lied I have one word... HAZE.

i mean seeing as how they orginially said that theyll put it in the game (they went as far as saying that there might be 4 player split screen), it could be just a code within the game or the ps3 could have had hardware limitations. lets hope epic has a response to this or else they'll lose ALOT of potential buyers.....more info on this thread:

PS3 is really hurting. I hate to say it because I am such a big fan of the ps1 and ps2. I almost got a Xbox 360 when people figured out how to play back-up games on them, but I stuck with Sony and waited it out. I was pissed to find that motor storm didn't offer split screen and now this. This system is supposed to be the bomb when it comes to processing info and yet where is all the split screen capabilities. I bought Kane and Lynch Dead Men for this reason alone. The graphics aren't the best but it has co-op split-screen. I thought UT III was going to be the game that made buying the PS3 worth it all. It is too bad they didn't included any split screen, because of this factor alone I am going to have to pass on this game. I figure if I'm going to buy a non-split screen game I mine as well buy Orange Box instead. I was going to get them both but UT III not having split screen makes the game no longer desired by me. Haven't developers figured out yet that split-screen is extremely desired? The main reason for this is because people like to play with there friends and not everyone has $400 laying around and $60 for a single game. WarHawk will still have to be my best split-screen game..... well, until HAZE comes out. IMO don't buy UT III. We need to make a statement to game developers and we want the developers of HAZE to know we seriously want our split-screen capabilities!

I guess they are catering more for online play these days but I think playing at home with buddies is just as fun. I remember playing Halo over LAN in college. four way split screen. yes it was harder to see but having your team or enemies next to you was great. At least we have multiplayer for sports games still.

(I realize this is an xbox mag, but I think this should most definitely apply for the PS3 as well)
From page 51
" "Our plan is to support up to four-person coop in the single player game," says (Steven) Polge . "That was one of the nice things that Gears validated--yeah we're not the only ones who think co-op is cool. We're also going to support split-screen, but it's going to be much easier to do four-person co-op than it is to support two player split-screen. But those are both definites. Multiplayer is an important part of UT, so there's no risk or issues there. ""
Mark Rein's response to that earlier today:
"I don't have that issue at hand but I'll take your word for it that this is accurate and I'll say I'm sorry that this feature didn't make it into the game. I personally wasn't aware we had ever planned to do it and we certainly hadn't talked it up as a feature of UT3 on PS3."
Also, from the administrator of Epic forums (regarding the split screen issue):
"Hi guys. We're aware that some of our customers wanted splitscreen for the PS3 version of UT3.We hear you and will evaluate the feature for possible future updates to UT3.Thanks!"
So maybe there is some hope left...
