Hello everyone. I have a general ? for everyone, I'm an experienced user of DVD Shrink & AnyDVD I have great success backing up pretty much any DVD I choose, but on rare occassions I will encounter a movie I'm unable to backup. What usually happens is DVD Shrink gives me an error that it can not read some file (sorry haven't written down the exact file error when it happens) & no matter what I try, I'm unable to make that particular backup. Just wondering if anyone might know the cause of that? Just wondering if there are certain movies that just can't be backed up because of some extra heavy duty protection on them that can't be removed by Shrink or AnyDVD. Because I can have that happen meaning can't back up a particular movie, but then go on to the next movie & it works perfectly fine. Latest example, couldn't back up the new The Bourne Ultimatum, but could back up the new Seinfeld Seas 9 no problem. Like I said I can pretty much backup 99% of any movies I want, but that rare one out there, that I can't just makes me wonder what's happening & why on that particular movie it can't be done? So was wondering if that happens, do you think it is the Shrink program or is it the Anydvd program that's not able to read some needed code? I get all the regular updates from Anydvd & was wondering if it was a code reading issue for them, would there be a way to contact them & tell them a movie that couldn't be backed up & then for them to do one of their program updates? Sorry if this post is wordie, I tend to ramble SORRY!!!

The disks you're having problems backing up are most likely bad, they will play well, but backing them up is another matter.
Quote: Latest example, couldn't back up the new The Bourne Ultimatum
AnyDVD and shrink should be able to back this one up no problem, as well as DVDFab decrypter, others are also having the same problem with this one and it's most likely due to a bad press. You can read about it here http://forums.afterdawn.com/thread_view.cfm/599214
As long as AnyDVD is kept current, you shouldn't have very many problems, in the rare cases that you do, you can wait for an update to solve it (samples can be sent to slysoft for study) or try another disk.
Note: you can always try using the ripper that comes with anydvd to rip with, then use shrink to do the rest.

With The Bourne Ultimatum, there are many reports of "badly pressed" discs in the numerous boards. If you got to the Shrink step of reading the disc, then AnyDVD has done it's job....
