flip176:
All you need is to know the SSID ( the name of the network)
The security type ( WEP or WPA )
The password ( to find this youll need to go into the router )

Firmware 1.5 is the best for playing homebrew games (cos it has a hole in it, allowing people to run unsigned code). You can play homebrew on FW2.00-2.6 but not all apps are supported (many of the major ones including UMD Emulators etc.). Also for FW2.01 or greater you need GTA to play homebrew. That is why you shouldn't upgrade past 2.00 (p.s 2.00 can also be downgraded to 1.5).
Note: Incase you didn't get it, FW=firmware.

If all you want to do is go on the internet, then I recommend that you don't upgrade past 2.00. The only new features of 2.6 are RSS feed (for podcasts) and location free (watch live video, but you need to buy the base station). Anyway, they might make a homebrew that you really like, so if you keep 2.00, you can downgrade anytime. Oh, and the new 2.7 FW has flash player in the browser, so you might want to upgrade. But you can't play homebrew (even with GTA) with FW2.7 .

yep. It has all the features of the previous updates (excluding homebrew) + flash player 6 support in browser, and it allows you to save streaming audio on to memory stick (RSS), and allows you to use newer memory sticks that Sony plan to release (8GB etc.).

Yes, no need to download anything extra. After you install the firmware, you will have an integrated browser in the firmware.
